I could barely move forward or reverse. Front bucket working and oil level ok.
I found problem on you tube. The nut for the linkage rod (above the oil filter) was missing and the bolt was just hanging in there by a thread (excuse the pun) which was enough to make a slight movement possible.
Local dealer said (when I told him what I thought would be the problem) that would not be the case because he had been servicing these models for 3 years and never seen a loose nut there.
He had no spares so I bought a LOCKED 5/16 x 24 UNF for $2 from local fasteners, repaired problem in 10 minutes after R&R oil filter with no oil lost.
Glad I did not leave with dealer.

John,

Glad you found your problem! Those of us that have the BX25 and other models are very well aware of the nut backing off and losing some speed - mainly in reverse The nylon lock nut is the perfect solution too.

Like you, I had to adjust mine as it had backed off a couple of turns and the reverse speed was slowing.

Ah, yes, the famous, "I've never seen it, so it can't happen! " approach.

That's how idiots think.

Glad you tracked it down. Hope I never need to know about it, but mebbe I should check mine!

Thanks for the info!

I have seen this on dozens of units and always use a Nylock nut to ensure it will not happen again.
