Bx24 stalls and dies when accelerating

My tractor sat outside a few months after it suddenly died and wouldn’t start. I knew it needed a fuel stop solenoid because it wouldn’t shut off unless I manually maneuvered to solenoid to off. Finally figured out it needed a new battery, so I replaced it with Kubota Interstate battery from a dealer. And, since Id have to wait at least two weeks for it to arrive, and pay a lot extra for shipping, for a Kubota fuel stop Solenoid (priced $135 - 175 plus shipping) I purchased one off Amazon for about $35 including shipping with Amazon Prime.
Great news - it started right up and engine sounded great. Sadly it stalls and then dies when pressing on the accelerator for forward and reverse.

I added fuel right after starting. Took almost five gallons, so while sitting outside in the hot sun I’m guessing most of the diesel fuel must have evaporated?

any guess as to why it’s stalling and a fix?
Thx

Did you run it out of fuel? You may have to bleed the fuel delivery system to get it started. Look in your owner's manual for the procedure.

Didn’t run out, but it was very low. I’ll try bleeding 👍

this.... My tractor sat outside a few months
as well as very low on fuel.... (took 5 gallons) ...
you can easily (probably ) have 'crud in the tank'...
I'd drain the tank, remove the filters, CLEAN the tank and fuel lines, then install new filters, fill swith fresh fuel. Follow the manual for 'priming' then run for a good 15-20 minutes. Once satisfied she's 'up and running' ,shut down, wait 1/2 hr, then start her up again.
You can use the oil fuel, say 1 gallon at a time, when you refill the tanks. If you can store in a glass jug ( wine carboy ), leave on a bench for a week and see if any water pools on the bottom.

I am thinking that the injectors and/or the injector pump might have gummed up as a result of the fuel evaporation in the hot sun. Start it and let it idle for a half hour and then try using it. The fresh fuel flowing through the system might just clean everything. I doubt it is the tank because if it were, you wouldn't get it to run at all. New filters can't hurt, but if the fuel is flowing through the old filters, why add one more level to the existing problem?

My b7800 that I bought sat for over six years in the elements. Added fuel started right up ran about 5 min and died, pulled hose from inlet to filter and drained water for about 40 seconds and fired up with no issues. You may have some diesel algae that is floating around in the tank. OH and check the fuel cap VENT

How does it die?
Slowly like it runs out of fuel or
Suddenly like you turned the key off when you press the HST pedal?

Thank you! I will try it!

true. It sounds fine until I try to go forward or backwards. I’ll try all suggestions.thank you

If it idles fine and will sit static with the engine at higher rpms and run fine for several minutes then you do NOT have any issues with fuel.

If you are then sitting in the seat and try to move the tractor and it dies (like you turn the key off) that would probably be a safety switch or operator presence controller that is not working properly.

Is there a switch underneath the seat that may not be pressed completely down?

thank you for letting me know about the fuel, and checking the switches. Makes more sense it could be a switch
Could be a safety switch. I’ll check that out, and the operator presence controller. I’ve got a workshop manual so will see how to test it

Since you said the fuel cutoff solenoid needs to be activated to shut the engine down, another test would be to unplug it and see what happens when you try to move the tractor.

IF things operated normally at that point it would almost certainly be a safety interlock issue (I would bet, but usually lose when I bet).

Thank you All! Russell you hit the ail on the head. It was the HST neutral SWITCH. One of the plastic stays broke so the switch wasn’t in tis holder anymore. Until the new. One arrives I’m holding it down with Duck tape and a zip tie.

FYI: took me a few days to even look at it because we’ve had majorwind and rain storms followed by a very earl snowfall (which is still frozen on the ground). Thankfully only snowed about 6” so I didn’t need to plow!

Glad you got it fixed and the suggestion of the cause was accurate.
