BX23S Roof Project

After a year away on this project, I'm back at it. The frame and uprights are UniStrut, aswell as all the brackets that bolt it together. The front supports will be attached to custom aluminum L-Brackets, using the two existing holes in the floor pan, near the foot pedals. Custom lighting mounts have also been made and ready. The skin for the roof is sheet aluminum.

Indeed. I've only got $200 invested in it over a two year span, so I figured I'd give it a try. The assembly is pretty straight forward, the way it's all tied together with the brackets, bolts and nuts, I'm skeptical it will remain tight. All the brackets, bolts and nuts also add a LOT of unnecessary weight. Given that, I may end up taking the frame work off the tractor and weld it all together, which will resolve a LOT.

I would use lots of "blue" locktite (medium strength) on the bolts to help combat the vibration.

Howdy RWS. I considered blue, or even red. Then I went to my hardware drawers and grabbed split-ring lock washers. They help, but the added thickness took away 1 to 1-1/2 turns of the bolt thread. I also considered buying longer bolts, but the thought and expense has been a debate with my frugal-ness. I have a welder that could omit all this nonsense...lol.

I would go with "blue" in case you want to make any changes/mods to it...But if your sure, I ain't against welding
