Good evening All - I have a '05 Bx2230 that began hemorrhaging fluid this evening inside the left rear wheel. I'm assuming/hoping is the seal. Well it dawned on me the axle is flanged on the end so it has to come out to replace the seal. How big a project is this? Corporate has ruined my local dealership so Id like to do this myself if possible? Any advice?? Thanks!!!

Bless yall!

Look at the seal, bet it just popped out, common occurrence.
Clean it all up with brake parts cleaner, put a little seal retainer on the lip and reseat it.
Then check that the vent on the transmission is clear.

It is very simple:
Remove the wheel
Place a catch pan
Pry out #50 seal
Remove #40 snap-ring
Pull the axle out of the housing

Remove the small snap-ring, gently tap the bearing off the axle shaft, and the seal slips right off.

A look at the parts manual dhows that there is am internal snap ring inside the axle seal. So it would appear you need to remove the wheel,
support the rear of the tractor, remove the axle seal(050), then remove the internal snap ring (040) . That should allow the axle to slide out, then you will need to remove a snap ring retaining the inner bearing(030), remove the bearing(020) and replace the seal. Reverse the procedure to reassemble.
Hope this helps.
Here is a picture of the axle assembly.

I always hate it when that happens. Looks like you are trying to be smart but ends up looking like you just copied the first person!
It happens to me all the time, as I open to many posts and then go through answering them.
Someone invariably beats me to the post.

Man I can't thank you all enough for the information! I looked at the diagram yesterday but it didn't register that the one snap ring was an ID fit. I feel way better about this now. I'm comfortable enough to be dangerous at this point!! I think I might even give her a new set of bearings as well. She's been really good to us! Thanks again everyone! Bless you guys!
