I work with a BX2200 Kabota belly tractor and this will be my first winter on the job. Would like to know if there are any suggestions for winter storage and winterizing of tractor?

King I was hoping someone would answer you by now but here we go are you leaving your tractor outside and basically unprotected? Please tell me what your facilities are and we can come up with a plan taylored to your needs in Warren, Ohio.

The tractor will be sitting in a garage and our Ohio winter get below freezing much of the time. I have it protected with anti-freeze but wanted to check on any other precautions to take. Of course I will take the battery out and keep it indoors. Thank you for your help Ob1!

King :) add about 4 oz of Sta-bil to your diesel and then fill it to the top of the tank leaving the neck empty for expansion and venting during the temperature swings you will see up there on sunny winter days. ;) Very good idea to keep the battery from freezing but keep it in a vented area off the floor because it will gound out setting directly on concrete floors. I use a wooden rack in a vented room off the garage with trickel charger ( smart charger) hooked up during down months of no mowing. Its a great time to get maintenance done over winter months. :D

Hello Ob1kubota:
I had the same questions as kingjmatyas and a few others. Hope you can advise.
My B7800 will be in a shed, open to the elements but tarped. I'll take out and charge the battery and add Stabil to the diesel. Does it matter if the tractor sits on dirt or on pavers? Would it be better up off the ground on jackstands? The back tires are filled with beet juice, which I understand won't freeze. I'm in Michigan so we get some serious cold. Is there anything else to do to keep the critters out? Thanks in advance.

I just leave my tractors whereever they happen to be. For the BX, that's in the garage - nothing special, battery left as is, nothing added or taken away. If I did not have a garage, I'd make sure I didn't park above soil or grass with the mower attached due to rust hazard. My L3010 and M9000 tractor stay where they were when I shut them off - on the field or whatever.

I have an even better suggestion: get a blower and use the BX in the winter!

Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate it. I'd love to leave my B7800 in the garage, but then I'd be scraping ice off the car every day. The Kubota is going into cold storage. I'll miss it.

Put dryer sheets under the hood, it is supposed to keep mice away.
You don't want those little buggers chewing up your wires.
What a great idea! Thanks. I've also been wrapping the air filter with plastic and stuffing the exhaust pipe on my lawn tractor to keep mice from making homes in them. Seems like good advice too.
OTT is just great! It's a cornucopia of down-home expert advice based on experience. Just fantastic. Thanks to you all and to the founders of OTT.

Use Irish Spring bar soap instead of dryer sheets. I tried the dryer sheet in our camper and still had mice. Put in the soap and they stayed away. I cut the soap in quarters - had to be the odor they put off.
