When fuel gels it makes wax-like stuff that's nasty.
I honestly don't know if all that crap dissolves when warmed without the help of Diesel 911 or similar product.
Just guessing the front filter could be your issue.
I see you're in Virginia. Not as cold as upstate New York.
Up here, diesel is sold as a "winter blend" after November 1. Not sure if the same applies down there.
For future reference, I recommend you treat your fuel with an additive for winter operation. I use Power Service in the white bottle for winter operation. My fuel containers need refilling shortly, and will be dosed with the anti-gel additive, as it's still summer blend fuel.
Refill of my containers after that should be winter blend.
