Between the BX and the ZD326/ZD331, I hate the fuel filters!
There are hose clamping pliers available for, well, crimping off hoses. I bought a set from Matco, I think about $30, probably available elsewhere for 1/3. 3 plastic pliers with a lock on them, and the jaws are dull as could be. They don't damage the hose one bit. Real simple to use. The smallest plier is the one I use the most for fuel filters. The largest plier is for like radiator hoses.
Put some gloves and a rain jacked on. Or wear a garbage sack over your body. Do the filter change first thing in the morning before you're out and running around on the tractor all day so that once you get a half gallon of diesel all over you and your arms, hands, etc, it'll have some time for the stink to wear off. If you don't wear a plastic garment, use some old clothes and take a change to the shop/garage with you, once the filters are changed, change clothes and throw the diesel-ruined clothing on the burn pile and touch it off. That works very good, by the way (experience speaking). I don't know about y'all but my girlfriend hated the smell of diesel fuel so when I have to do a BX or ZD filter change, it's almost guaranteed that we will be sleeping in separate rooms. Seems like no matter how much you wash or scrub, the stink just won't come out of your skin.
