Has anyone modified their brake pedal arm on their BX to lower it a couple of inches ? My hips aren't what they once were. Is there a possible adjustment or an aftermarket company that makes a lower height pedal ?

I thought about that for the past 4 years but every time I look (nearly daily....sigh ) , I see a 'geometry' problem and reluctant to cut/hack/grind/weld/ alter the pedal......I will see what the pedal costs, might be another nice 'Winter project'....
OK, I got curious...hmm brake pedal NOT in 'brake' section, it's in 'operator' section....K277143174 costs about $80 CDN. 'Looks' fairly easy to replace......
Now IF Santa dropped one off..............

Greenville Jay, l think this winter I will take a ride to my Bota dealer and see if l can purchase the brake pedal arm assembly. Shouldn't be too hard for the local metal fab shop to cut a couple of inches off and weld it back together, some black spray paint and its good to go... Thoughts on feasibility?

Just thoughts…why not just haul the tractor with existing brake pedal attached to local fab shop and have them modify what you already have to fit your needs? Why buy a new replacement part to cut up when you already have one you can use?

Dont press the brake pad! Press the shaft below the pad. I only use it for an e brake. The machine stops itself when you take your foot off the pedal!

for BX1880 I sw this on parts... K277143174 as the brake pedel assy... $80 CDN. Don't know what the Messicks part is....

Before you have someone 'cut and weld', make a 'model' out of wood. Take some measurements, cut plywood to look like the 'profile/side view' of the arm.drill.hole where it pivots, screw into workbench and mark floorboard on bench. move arm like you're applying brakes. Might take a couple of tries to get it accurate. When you do, make a 2nd one, cut THAT one and see what happens.
My gut says when you cut and lower, you'll need to tilt the short 'pedal; piece toward the back a lot.

A neighbour did this for his tractor's clutch pedal as he wasn't as tall as us normal guys.....

at least wood is cheap, you can make lots of free tries BEFORE welder guy modifies the $80 part.

My thought was to have a spare in case it doesn't go as planned..l would always have the original pedal on hand..

$80 as a spare is CHEAP for anything today.....

get new part
modify old part
IF it works, return NEW part, get money back or 'store credit'.
If it doesn't work, install NEW part and 'up and running' in a few minutes.

if you don't get a new one FIRST , the welder guy will somehow destroy your part and you'll be without tractor cause the new part has to be backordered for 6-8 weeks..........it's 'Murphy' thing...... ;)

If you want to modify it, why not fab a pedal with a 2 piece clamp on the arm, that just tightens around the existing rod at whatever height works for you ?

Good idea Orangeglow. I was thinking maybe finding a small pedal and tack it to the arm in a lower position.

If I wanted to change the pedal height, I would prefer to clamp it, instead of welding it, so I could return the pedal to stock if I ever wanted to trade it in.

i bought my BX80 used and the brake pedal was almost to the floor of the tractor. I adjusted it with
the small turnbuckle on the right hand side under the floorboard. Easy to do. Just turn the turnbuckle a few turns and check it.
