Remove the fuel line from the filter by the engine then turn the key on. Fuel should spurt from the fuel line and you should hear the pump running. Thanks Dave...I need to dig into this further as it cranks, but doesn't start. Any recommendations as to a good place to test if the pump is operational?
I can***8217;t tell if the pump is running over the noise of the starter and engine trying to start. Sorry, but I***8217;m a novice. thanks for the guidance to check fuses and fuel at the filter. I***8217;ll follow up.do you hear the lift pump running when you turn the ignition on? If not, check fuses first, then all safety switches. lastly, check to see if your getting power to the pump when the ignition is on.
The lift pump runs with just the key in the on position. You should here it run if you just turn the key on without trying to crank it.I can***8217;t tell if the pump is running over the noise of the starter and engine trying to start. Sorry, but I***8217;m a novice. thanks for the guidance to check fuses and fuel at the filter. I***8217;ll follow up.
Thanks guys***8212;appreciate your input.
It happens when someone types an apostrophe.Just out of curosity, what is all those numbers (***8217;t) and letters???? I see it in a lot of posts. Like wolfman says, just turn the key to the on position, not start, and listen for a clicking sound. That's your fuel pump.
Hope you can see what you need in this diagram. Fuel pump fuse is fifth from the bottomthe pump does not run with the key in the on position. I cannot find which fuse operates the pump. the schematics I found on the web don't indicate a fuse. any guidance on a good schematic or insight on the fuse location is appreciated...thanks all.
The PDF version which would actually be readable is too big at 430kb to upload on o.rangetractortalksthat diagram is the same(or similar) one I have from a WSM.pdf.
sigh...
Awesome. Easy fix. Thanks to all for your input. It was the fuse. It was located 2nd slot up from the bottom. Started right up...very much appreciate the guidance
