Thanks Dave...I need to dig into this further as it cranks, but doesn't start. Any recommendations as to a good place to test if the pump is operational?

Remove the fuel line from the filter by the engine then turn the key on. Fuel should spurt from the fuel line and you should hear the pump running.

do you hear the lift pump running when you turn the ignition on? If not, check fuses first, then all safety switches. lastly, check to see if your getting power to the pump when the ignition is on.

The lift pump runs with just the key in the on position. You should here it run if you just turn the key on without trying to crank it.

Just out of curosity, what is all those numbers (***8217;t) and letters???? I see it in a lot of posts. Like wolfman says, just turn the key to the on position, not start, and listen for a clicking sound. That's your fuel pump.

It happens when someone types an apostrophe.

thanks, guys
I'm not sure what the numbers represent. The software this forum uses may replace the three-period symbols I sometimes use at the end of a sentence with the string of numbers. I should go back to proper grammar.

the pump does not run with the key in the on position. I cannot find which fuse operates the pump. the schematics I found on the web don't indicate a fuse. any guidance on a good schematic or insight on the fuse location is appreciated...thanks all.

Yah IF you find a readabe wiring diagram email me !!!
The fuzzy one I have shows a fuse for the fuel pump, 5th one down from top IF they're in the same physical order. I can't even read colours or sizes of the wires, let alone Amp rating of the fuses......
Reminds me I need to goto Kubota dealer tomorrow !

don't count on the order of the fuses to be correct, mine weren't. Since there's only a handful, check them all.

If the fuse is good, check to see if you have power to the lift pump with the ignition in the on position (not the start position). Check for loose wire to lift pump. Since its located under the tractor, they are vulnerable to to sticks etc.

You said you are a novice so I'll this, did you bleed the fuel system after you filled the tank? A diesel it not like a gas engine in that regard,

Thanks to all for your input. It was the fuse. It was located 2nd slot up from the bottom. Started right up...very much appreciate the guidance
