Paul,How do I know if a B2601 is too small or too big (4 acres) first time tractor buyer?
Paul,
What are you expecting to do on this 4 acres?
Give us a list of all the things you want to do - what is this 4 acres like? All grass? Trees? Pond? You have horses, cattle?
this will help us help you!
I really like the BX25 especially the smaller size, because I'll have to cut and Maneuver around many trees! But first I need power to help clear the land, thinking the B2601 series may have a little more beef! I used a older JD 40hp today moving clay, wasn't too happy lost a tire, will try again Tomorrow! I appreciate your input, Thanks!I am a new owner of a BX25D on 5 acres. So far I have plowed snow and moved several big rocks (as in very large). One of the rocks that appeared to be about 2'x2' I dug up with the backhoe and it ended up being more like 3'x4'. It must have weighed close to 1000 lbs because my FEL (using chains) could barely lift it. So far I'm very happy with the BX. I considered the B series, but for similar pricing, I went with BX25D for the backhoe. I think you'll be happy with the B on 4 acres regardless of what you are doing. Everyone will tell you every tractor looks smaller when you bring it home, but on 4 acres i think it would be difficult to justify a larger machine.

I live in the south, we don't have the cold winters you guys have! Isn't the b2601 and b2650 the same but with a cab?B2650 hsdc
I rented a JD 4105 this weekend with a land plain! First time using a tractor, I had to move a couple of loads of soil, had a hard time getting a full bucket of soil in the beginning. I got better as time went on tilting the bucket down and digging in! land plain did a great job, now I have another question land plain or box scraper?Go rent something for a weekend and you'll know what to get.
We love our BXs, but got them only because we also have bigger tractors when needed. Due to the low ground clearance, we found the BX hard to use in the woods.
If I could only have one tractor, I'd get a B2601 or B2650.
You are going to get mixed opinions on land plane or box blade. Land Plane is easier to use especially doing road maintenance, but box scraper works better overall for me as I maintain roads and also do a lot of dirt work.I rented a JD 4105 this weekend with a land plain!
