3+ years ago my L48 TLB came to me without rubber "street pads", and I have been thinking about adding them ever since.

Messick's price is $100.39 per pad (plus shipping), and 4 pads are needed.

I just ordered four new pads at $51.50 each, plus shipping.
The business is called Flippad International, and has apparently been making pads (in USA) for 35 years.
Perhaps others here are aware of this company, but I was not.

The company is in Hanover, MA, and their phone # is 1-800-flippad.
The steel used for their pads is powder coated, and their rubber is heavy fabric reinforced.

I am expecting to see a quality product when the pads arrive.

I'm glad to see that you came to your senses and placed your order with flippad international. The last time I had suggested them, you scoffed and said you were making some out of wood.

You'll like the ones from flippad. They were great to deal with.

You will enjoy the rubber pads. Grip and a little extra height.

Wouldn’t have appreciated the benefits of rubber pads if they weren’t on the used B26 backhoe.

Bought some dealer close out rubber pads on eBay for the M59. Made mega bear pads and claws. Have enjoyed the difference on our hillside farm.

New bucket, new street pads! Sounds like the battery tender just might come off the L48 next year! Congrats!

I was not willing to pay the $245 shipped price... then.
A year+ older now,..... and I have reevaluated.
Bottom line: Pads are simply a low level "want", .......definitely not a "need", at my age.

New bucket was only to have a second (trenching) bucket.

L48 TLB Battery Tender is on periodically, all year long!
Same for the Ford 1920 too!

Even if they are called street pads I find they improve the the grip on our hillside farm. Don’t have asphalt or concrete roads. Cause less damage to landscaping around buildings. Increasing the pad surface area helps keep from sinking in soft ground.

Thank you for the post!
The reason I had not purchased the rubber pads earlier, was because they do not provide any additional flat surface contact area,....... so I have believed they would not provide any meaningful benefit sitting on natural ground.
Perhaps I have been wrong?
I too, do not have any asphalt or concrete surfaces.

Those pads are also available from Messick's, for a mere $401.55 + shipping (probably $35-$40 ?)

No "free" steel anywhere near me.
Not handy for me to find fabric reinforced thick sheet rubber,.... and if so, at what cost?

If I had only known that YOU could make those 4 pads with "free" materials, and in "two easy hours" I most certainly would have given you a call. 😪

At 82, what I mostly...."make".... is trips to the fridge & the bathroom!

My results have been somewhat different. I flip them rubber side up when I'm on turf. Otherwise, I get pulled into the hole with the backhoe. Light tractor, strong backhoe.

The pads do work as advertised on hard surfaces. YMMV
