Heck, wait til you're 71, then 2 gallon cans area 'handful' !!!!
I use 3 now....consider it 'reps at the pumps'.......once a week, more or less.

I use stanadyne and Howes diesel fuel additive. Much easier to dose a 100gallon tank vs 5gallons bottles. My shoulders smile every time I fill up now.

As other previous posters, I used an Amazon 12 volt 'kit' and made my own refilling station of sorts. It was easier years ago when I burned #2. I just had our oilman fill it when he came. Now I use the forks to lift it into my son's pickup. The drum dolly it sits on makes it much easier to handle. It plugs right into a 20 amp socket behind the fel bucket.

A couple of years ago I battled this with my 3301.

I was completely done with climbing on top of the tractor. Done with pouring diesel on my new orange paint. Done with having my oldest boy watch for horseflies landing on me in the summer while I balance this ever so light 5gal jug across the FEl for a few minutes.

Ended up getting a couple of the Dow Industries 15 gallon tanks. They're a gravity feed style but figured I would tap a fitting into the cap for a milwaukee inflator just to keep some pressure on her and fill alittle quicker.

Then a few weeks later I decided I couldn't live without a 3560. Now I'm back to 5 gal jugs.

Total different ball game when the fuel fillter is on the side of the tractor and only 3 feet or so off the ground.

Next i'll probably just rig a smaller trailer up as a dedicated fuel trailer.

The filler neck on my M6060 is about 3ft off the ground too, but even if that were my only tractor I'd still use one of the JohnDow Industries storage tanks that I have. :giggle: I made the point in another thread that 5 gallon containers are a pain at both ends i.e. filling and dispensing. They're slow for one thing and can't match the 10 gallon/minute flow rate of most electric pumps. As @Smokeydog says above, it's easier and more efficient to "dose" a large tank than a bunch of 5 gallon containers.

Hopefully you'll show some photos of your fuel trailer once it's up and running.

We've been out of power since 0300.

Couple times today used my battery-operated fuel pump to fill the genny.

This version does a couple gpm.

I have a variety:

At the house (primary use is for my B) I have a 25 gallon fuel caddy that I paid for in Cabela’s points. It’s ok, but it’s easier to take cans than load that up to take to get fuel. I also use a ac/dc/battery want for the pump. Just that alone with the cans would have been fine…it would have been better for me to buy extra Jerry cans than the fuel caddy for my use. So in this case the caddy was a waste of points…but I am able to have some extra fuel on hand…I don’t really need that much on hand though. Key point is the wand that pumps…when it craps out I’ll get another.

For the MX I have an HMC (it’s beautiful and made in America) fuel caddy. Not cheap but it’s built in USA. I use Jerry cans to keep it filled. It works great and is nice to have extra on hand. Mx is a bit thirstier than the B.

Ultimately I think extra Jerry cans and a wand is the economy option (compared to a caddy and easier to take to town). Unless you have the option to have fuel delivered or a transfer tank in the truck. Once you go to trouble to load a fuel caddy into the truck, it’s easier to deal with cans IMO. Anyway IMO I think a quality transfer tank in the back of the truck is the answer unless get fuel delivered to your farm. But each of the options comes at different usage quantity and different $$$ involved. Everyone’s MMV 🚜.

I think it comes down to your rate of consumption. Take bourbon, let’s buy that by the barrel. Now milk, just fill my glass when I want some. 😉
