Builder just called. They are starting next Monday. And I’m gonna be in Baton Rouge and NOLA visiting family. The way the weather has turned, I best not put it off. Hopefully it stays warm enough or get the slab poured

The old man use to tell me he should have stayed working, when he retired he said he dont have time to do anything,, Get up eat breakfast watch the news, get out of the chair eat lunch, watch the price is right, get up eat supper watch the news,, said he didnt have time to do anything :)
If your'e doing retirement 'right' you really don't have any extra time!

7 years of 'every day is Saturday' for me, I've learned to take my time and enjoy every minute!

So true! I feel like I'm busy now, way more than ever before.

I retired at the age of 44, 4 years ago.
I work much harder now and many times I will put 50 to 70hr weeks on my farm.

Here are a few of my flags, I had at my last place. I hoping to get a new building going at my farm this year.

I'm still in a routine of going to bed about 930pm ish and up by 530am, my wife hates it, but I'm a morning person and I love sunrises and like to hear the birds wake.

My first building was built by Morton Bldgs. ......36' x 48'
Only 6 years later, I built a second building, 40' x 50' wood frame, ......by myself.
Never enough storage!

WOW! I'm Jealous and impressed! Didn't know there was that much land there lol Hell of a price for that parcel. Although I am sure that was a pretty penny back then. Guessing it's worth quite a bit now. You are very blessed to have that for sure.

There is no direct monetary value to me!
26 years ago I put the property in trust for my children.
I get to pay real estate taxes, pay for maintenance, and use the 292 year old house, until I croak.
It is "home" to me, though I now live in Florida.

I knew you had kids and am glad that you put it in a trust for them. Hopefully they will enjoy it one day.

The three of them may fight over it, but I have tried to include language to protect against that.

Got a few photos this morning before the rain moved in. If the wind dies down tomorrow they may get the rest of the siding on

More progress today. Shell will be done and concrete poured tomorrow. They will be back next week to complete the electrical.

LOOKS VERY NICE!

"to complete the electrical" is a comment that has bad memories for me.
38 years ago Morton Bldgs. erected my 36 x48 building, and I hired another contractor for the floor.
I opted to do the electrical myself.
Time constraints took over, and I only got the fluorescent fixtures (now LED) installed.

I NEVER put receptacles throughout the building!
I have only a welder outlet, plus ONE 110v receptacle, and the building is now totally saturated with stuff.
I could actually still do it, by dropping the feed from above for each receptacle.
I'm too damn old to bother with it now!
If my sons want receptacles THEY can do it!

7 years later, 2nd building (40 x 50, - adjacent), I disciplined myself to put NOTHING in that building until electrical, ceiling, heat ducting were complete.

Concrete showed up early today. Good thing the crew was onsite finishing prep. Of course I’m not home. Will get some more photos when I’m home later today
