B8200 Power Steering, making my own.

I nuked my steering box. $500+ for a new one, and then what, muscle steering any time I have the blower on it waiting for it to break again. I decided to go power.

Using a power steering valve from a JD 318 and a 14" cylinder with 8" throw, I got the old steering box out and this one lined up pretty well.

Had the hoses made today. Only thing they didn't have was an adapter from the hydraulic block on the kubota to the 37* JIC, so I'm waiting for that to come in. Nothing's tightened down yet as I'm still testing fitment.

Parts were 3x12" ½" hoses, 1x18" ½" hose, 1x26" ½" hose, 1 ½" T, 2 elbows on the hydraulic cylinder, 5 elbows on the steering cylinder, and waiting on the adapter from banjo to ½".

I'm worried about your Orbital valve, the plumbing on a 5 port valve may not work like you want it too, I've only seen a few of these and I don't know it looping the aux and out will work like you want it too. :(

The diagram of how it looks like it works, looks more like a closed center system then an open center.

Where are you tapping into for power and return?

I'm not 100% sure on the plumbing either, but I've had a hard time getting feedback on that.

On diagrams I've seen, out returns to tank, AUX goes on to additional hydraulics(FEL, etc), then back to the tank. So both are eventually going back to the tank. When not steering, full flow goes strait through to AUX, when you steer it utilizes the OUT as I understand it.

At least this is how I understand it, please feel free to correct if I'm wrong.

The b8200 has ports built in for PS.

If you want it to work perfectly,
In of the orbital valve to the out of the block
Out of the orbital valve to tank port (bottom face plug)
Aux of the orbital valve to the in of the block.
do not turn the valve.
The top bolts (power steering connections) are banjo bolts so you will need banjo connections for them, and side connection should be BSPT threads, and should be O-ring BOSS fitting too, check plug.

Thanks for hte feedback. I'm not sure I understand hte difference between tank port and IN of the block. Aren't they both returning to the tank?

The hydraulic center suggested removing hte banjo adapter and going strait thread into the block for the hydraulics so no banjo was required. He ordered an adapter for me from the JIC to wahtever the port was under the banjo. I took one banjo bolt with me for him to measure thread.

IN of the block sends hydraulic pressure and flow onto the three point, better called power beyond.
Tank just dumps the extra fluid on to the sump without the pressure relief valve.

If the 3pt isn't in use isn't that just an open circuit though? Sorry, it's hard for me to picture a hydraulic system that works in parallel instead of in series. where would it be encountering a pressure relief valve?

Sorry about the delay. Got caught up in some other projects. Had some time with it yesterday.

The remote start came in handy not having to fiddle with the key. I may only use the key for emergencies, the remote is just easier.

There's a couple leaks, but it works. However, two of my houses are to long so I need new ones. I'll visit the hose shop tomorrow.

It sounds like it's dead heading the pump????
The motor should not be bogging down and stalling when you use the steering!

It only seems to do it when turning right, left it doesn't. However I only had a splash of fuel in there to test, with the tank not secured and just sitting there, so it was also running out of fuel I think.

It really sounds like it's dead heading the pump, and that will blow the seal out of the pump. ;)

Just put a steering knob on your vice grip.:D
