So last weekend I was bush hogging and before I could get back to my truck to get my diesel can, ran out of fuel and the tractor turned off. I got the can and filled it up. Started the tractor and started moving again. I moved about 1 ft and it turned off. Restarted and trying moving again and it almost turned off, but I stopped moving and it started in. No matter what direction I was moving. It did that for a few minutes and then didn't do it again for the rest of the day. Today I took my tractor off the trailer, blew dust and grass of the engine, started it up and went to move and it started doing it again. Thoughts? Anyone had this issue before? TIA

Does it die suddenly like the key was turned off?
Move the HST pedal back and forth does it try and die when you do that?
Does it bog down?
And if it bogs down, any smoke?

It does kind of seem like the switch was turned off because if I'm moving forward with the pedal and it starts to die and I let off the pedal to stop it will stay running and it will do that whether it's in going forward or reverse. It does not bog down and it does not normally smoke. It only smokes on the first time I start the engine.

Seat switch or HST switch issue.
It thinks your not in the seat.

To me that sounds like fuel starvation. It starts to die under load, but removing the load allows it to keep running?

Since you report this happened after you ran it out of fuel, I'd look for ways to bleed the fuel system. Not supposed to need it (like my old B7100 does), but still...

A plugged fuel filter also causes this behavior, so that'd be worth a look.

Makes you wonder if there was an accumulation of debris at the bottom of the fuel tank that got sucked through the hose when the OP ran it dry.....
