There was no need on my repair to try to retain the seal into the case. There were three seals that co fit into the L185 hydraulic pump and the one that went with the tractor’s serial number did not fit at all so I ordered the other two and only one fit into the pump case. The proper seal fit well in the case and while it was tight it did not really require a lot of force to get it installed but enough to know it was not going to come out during operation.Cleaned up the pump today and found that the seal has been staked in.
