Hey everyone...noticed that my tractor was missing the hitch plate below, so I was able to find one on ebay for next to nothing. My question comes in regard to attaching it to the tractor. I noticed that there's a matching triangular flat section under the differential that matches the triangular plate on the hitch attachment. It has three screws. Easy enough, right? Well, before I go taking all three of those bolts out, is that plate section on the tractor actually a cover holding back the rear differential oil or is it just a solid flat section to allow the addition of my hitch plate? I don't want to remove the three bolts and have a ton of gear case oil come raining down on me...

Here you can see that I've removed one of the three bolts. Is that actually a cover holding back the gear case oil?

And here's what I'm hoping to attach in that area

Sure does look like the right part and attachment point, but guessing.

Not of help for attaching the drawbar, but suggest a couple resources.

Here you can find parts diagrams. Agree to legal, then put in your B7100 model. There's several variants:

Also, whenever tinkering with such things, an operator's or workshop manual (OPS or WSM) can be helpful.

Couple places for those:

Good luck!

I have that exact same hitch (with an extra slot for the BH pump) on my B7100 and I don't remember any plate under the diff housing.
I'm sure I've had my hitch off when I repainted it, and no oil fell on me.
I can't be absolutely sure, because the tractor is 150 mi from here.
If you would have asked yesterday, I could have checked, I was with the tractor then.
To me it looks like you have the remnants of a broken off hitch still attached.
Note the broken-looking edge.

Your hitch may have a 4th hole for an 8mm bolt. (see pic)
This is to lock into a dimple in the middle of the 3 point bar, to keep it from "walking" back & forth.

Was this ever resolved?

Also curious if this was resolved. I want to remove my 'hitch' and try turning it 'upside down' (a relative term?). Mine is mounted in the same orientation as Nelsonaragon shows in his second photo. When mounted this way, the top of the pin is very close to the PTO, but it works for attaching things like trailers with the simple pin. But I want to drop a ball hitch in in place of the pin. But this puts the ball just millimeters away from the PTO, and it will be impossible to attach a hitch to the ball. But looking at the way the thing it is constructed, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be mounted inverted. This would drop the ball safely away from the PTO.

In fact, in this post:
B7110's photos seem to show the hitch mounted the way I need it.

Can someone second this? It is indeed a bit scary seeing as how its bolted directly to the differential...

If I try removing the hitch, I'll get back to you regarding whether I drained the transmission or not.

Thanks!
