Greetings all. I'm a new member with a bit of a story ... about one year ago mice nested behind the dashboard of our 2012 B3300SU. They chewed up the dashboard wiring so badly that I had to replace the wiring harness. They also chewed on a few wires on the tractor side of the dashboard wire harness plug but those were repairable. When the repair was complete the tractor would not start with the dashboard connected, but it has run just fine for the past year without the dashboard connected. The battery is being charged and everything electrical works, headlights, turn signals, flashers, rear facing auxiliary light and the safety switches (seat, PTO, forward/reverse pedal position) function as designed.

We have checked and rechecked those safety switches and have unplugged, cleaned and reconnected every connection we can reach. We also checked the continuity of the repaired wires near the connector to the dash wiring.

When the dash is connected turning the key to the first position illuminates the oil pressure dashboard light but not the battery/charging light (yes, the bulb is good). The glow plug light will illuminate at the second key switch position. Nothing happens when the key is turned to the third/start position.

A Kubota tech took pity on me and gave me a copy of the wiring diagram, which I'm attaching to this post. Maybe someone can use it to help me understand what I'm missing.

Thanks for your help, Dave

Sounds like you got a line somewhere that gets pulled just enough to get loose when you bolt up the dash.... and when you loosen and free it the tension is removed and you have contact.

Or you still have a ground fault or a shorted wire that backfeeds or something when the dash is connected.

try this. Run a wire from metal dash a ground wire to area where dash would be bolted...... if this too causes same result as bolting her up... then you got more info to diagnose with.

coachgeo,

I like the idea of installing the dash pulling on something and will check that.

The dash itself is plastic and devices in the dash are connected with two wires but checking for grounds/shorts ia also a good suggestion.

Thanks, Dave

By what you said in the beginning I'm thinking you have an issue with one of these wires or connections.
The OPC controls starting and lack of a charge check light adds up to an issue there.

Thanks for the tip North Idaho Wolfman! I like your thinking.

I'll be back at the place where the tractor is kept later this week and will do some testing.

Re: B3300SU won't start with dashboard connected - fixed

I followed up on the ideas from others; traced and checked continuity and connectors on the likely culprit wires, and a few more wires. Id din't find any opens and there was no change in the end result.

I also couldn't find any wiring that was being pulled or pinched by the reassembly of the dashboard.

Working with my son-in-law-to-be we determined that the power to the battery dash light comes from one of the regulator wires but we could not find power at that wire with the key On. I replaced the regulator and now everything works as expected.

Strange thing about the regulator ... I took the old one to a Kubota shop that I trust and the tech could not find the continuity between terminals that is described in the shop manual. We also tested a new one with the same result.

Thanks to all who made suggestions, Dave

Dave, it nice for you to come back and report the results it took to solve your problem. When folks do as you did, it helps a lot of people solve similar problems in the future, who may start out with an internet search. Thanks.

Good evening North Idaho Wolfman, I'm actually a fellow Sandpoint-ean. I've got a customers B3300SU in my shop that quit while running. I stumbled on this page looking for a wiring diagram for it. Did the OP send you a full page of the diagram that you have excerpted above? If so I would love to get a copy of it. I can't seem to find a service manual anywhere online. Only print copies that are a week+ out and my guy is trying to rebuild his house and needs his tractor back ASAP. Thanks so much. Joe

Is there any chance I could also get a copy of that? All of a sudden my 3300su dash is showing full fuel and medium temperature. I am assuming it is something accidentally getting voltage
