Hi all,
I'm brand new to this site. I've had the same Kubota for 20 years now and love it. I wish I'd have known about this site before now......Oh well.
I have a question. I smashed up the dash module assembly on my tractor and had to buy a new one today ($900 bucks, yikes!). I'd like to keep the hours the same as they are now on the new assembly (not yet installed). Is there anyway I can advance the hours, (you know like back in the day when you could hook your vehicle odometer cable to an electric drill?) I of course can always start over at zero and record the previous hours, but thought it'd be nice to have the actual hours on the tractor.
I'd appreciate any input.

Perhaps y ou should have asked the dealer from whom you bought it. The electronic speedo/odometer in my Ram pickup developed a “glitch” and when they replaced it...it took them two days to send the new unit out to the mfr’r to “calibrate” it to the exact same mileage as that old one showed. (I believe this is a federal/state law regarding automobiles) ... So I’m imagining that whoever services or mfr’s these things can do the same.

Thanks for your feedback, I did that. The individual that helped me today was a very nice young man, but unfortunately didn't have a clue as to how to answer this question. My hour meter is the old "gear driven" type, so I though ther might be a chance.

I would try the electric/cordless drill and see how fast it would rack up hours. it might be practical or it might not be,

Just do not drive the rpm's beyond the gauge max with too much drill speed.

There are businesses catering to the old car restoration crowd who work on the old style gauges all the time and for whom working on a brand new instrument would be a treat.

I was guessing given the age of the tractor that it was a mechanical hour meter. Take Dave’s advice with the drill and not run it too fast if you have to have the hours correct.

Geo, I don’t know how they do it in the tractor world, but this is just my experience from the auto world with 2 manufacturers (and these are digital clusters) but Ford/Lincoln if we have cluster issues the correct mileage gets pulled from the pcm during the cluster programming and it will read the correct miles. I do Mazda as well, if you need a new cluster on that then the new odometer will read 0 miles. We have to attach a label to the door jam by the vin tag with date and miles of the cluster replacement. Mazda does offer the ability to send the new cluster off for programming of the correct miles but they will not pay for it regardless of if its under warranty or not, customer would be responsible for that charge.

Awesome. Thank you Dave.
I'll very gently try the drill first. (I'm not holding out too much hope for this, but am certainly going to give it a try). Once I've done that, I'll definitely try your 2 leads here. They're both actually quite close to my home.

Thanks again!

Just curious. How many hours on your B2910. My B2910 is 18 years old and has about 1700+ hours on it. l look once in a while but soon forget...

edit: Any chance you could swap the old hour meter into the new panel?

Around 750 hours. There were many years, when my kids were still home, that I ran it as little as 5-10 hours (tops) a year. These past few years, I've been running it pretty steadily. I'm in no way shape, or form gentle on it and have really, at times, beat the daylights out of it. It just keeps coming back for more....I can't say enough good about this Kubota.

Swap out: I have thought of that. I'm going to take a peak at it once I get at the job of replacing the module. I don't believe it this point that it'll be too difficult. Kind of a toss up right now. If the drill idea works, it would be nice to have all of the components be brand new. I also don't want the drill running for 3 days either:). I of course have the old one to play with, so once I start digging, I think I'll have it figured out quickly. If none of these are doable, (which I don't believe will be the case), I have the 2 companies that Dave supplied.
