I decided to put this in its own thread since the one I had previously been replying to was for a B2551 and I didn't want to confuse anyone since I have a B2660 and the part numbers may not be the same.

Okay, here's what I found. I may have located a Weasler equivalent replacement for the Kubota 70050-93921 snowblower yoke.

https://www.messicks.com/ku/84490 - $104.29

From my research, I believe that this is a 0.98" 10 spline shaft with spring-lock yoke. I looked at one of the spring-lock yokes on my B2660 last night and verified that it is indeed a 10 spline unit. I didn't have my digital caliper with me so I couldn't verify the shaft diameter. The u-joint cap bore appears to be 31/32".

If my suppositions are correct, then this should work at 1/3 the price:

https://www.paulbparts.com/product/weasler-domestic-tractor-yoke-6-series-spring-lok-98-10-spline - $34.99

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_1050610 - $43.99

Standard U-joint
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_2000600 - $17.99

Extended lubrication U-joint
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_2010600 - $29.99

Although paulbparts shows add-on u-joints at $11 for the regular and $20 for the extended lubrication Weasler joints.
https://www.paulbparts.com/product/weasler-pto-cross-bearing-kit-north-american-6-series/
So it would be cheaper in the end just to order everything from there as long as shipping isn't outrageous.

Can anyone verify that I'm on the right track here?

The B2660 that I purchased last summer is in very poor condition and had been left outside in the elements for many years. I am planning a complete tear down and rebuild to be able to use it next winter. I just can't stomach paying over $100 for a single yoke (and $40 for the accompanying u-joint) from Kubota. Especially when I need at least two of each and there's nothing special about them.

Hi - Did you ever confirm that the Weasler was an appropriate replacement? I'm considering fixing up a similar blower, but having a bit of shock regarding the prices of the individual components.

Thanks,
Don

Better to do your own research.. the original post is from 2019, and Creig hasn't been back since Jul 13, 2021

I know nothing about this shaft but .98 is suspiciously close to 25MM (.984). An ISO 25MM involute spline shaft with module pitch of 5 has 10 teeth.

I was hoping that it might go into the inbox of the individual, and spark a reply....but I did do some more research, and discovered that doing "driveshaft research" on the internet is a real pain! It is easy to find things that look like they will work, but with not enough specs to confirm. They seem to like to keep the magical specs to themselves.

At the end, I believe that the original suggested substitution will work. In all of Google, I was able to find another anecdotal cross reference between the Kubota and Wealser above. I haven't tried it myself, but I would/will if I go this way, and report back. Hopefully it won't be necessary.

Thanks for the note...seems reasonable given the origin of the tractor. Unfortunately, a quick search with that specification doesn't provide many hits on anything 10spline.

Just suggesting that .98 when expressed in MM is perhaps more "standard" than it might seem. Apparently this spline was used on several different makes of lawn and garden equipment (e.g. Cub Cadet).

In the US the standard for metric involute splines is ANSI B.92-2 which uses a modified gear tooth form with pressure angles of 30, 37.5, and 45 degrees and 5 classes of fit. So lots of variables to contend with. If the spline profiles match it appears Weasler has the yoke you need. I also found .98 x 10 a few other places but all EU sources and considerably more expensive. None of them provide any detail on the spline itself. Not even the word involute. If you buy one of the Weasler yokes please share the findings. A couple high res pictures of shaft and bore would also be interesting.

After getting your description of "25mm involute spline", I figured that would be the key to success on the web, but it didn't really help. I had a brief bit of excitement when McMaster had some 25mm spline, but again on 6 tooth. Lack of detail really seems to be the way the drive-shaft/spline guys operate. I suppose it is something that the phone might help with.

If I end up getting the above, I will post up the details; however, I have changed direction in my snow blower project and I don't think I'll be needing it.

Thanks for the details.

In case anyone is interested this quick connect does work on the Kubota snowblower drivelines, been using them for years. The issue is the mower driveshaft. That one uses different size u joints and will not work. Your best bet there is to pony up for the Kubota shaft assembly. Usually the shaft splines are worn anyways
