Librella is a monthly shot, primarily for arthritis in older dogs. It's working very well for Izzy.

I've had my Heeler mix on Librella for five months or so, along with Gabapentin, but I've noticed that her coordination suffers and she'll stumble and even fall over at times. I have a meeting this week to figure out which med should be stopped first in an attempt to isolate the cause of the lack of coordination.

We have brother and sister Catahoula dogs. The male takes to the wife and the female to me. It's interesting how that works.

Agreed, this is a curious phenomenon.

Our boy cat is a complete momma's boy, and the girl is a serious daddy's girl. Follows me all over the place.

Geddy doesn’t give a sh!t and is almost 3 now.

He loves Mr. Bill, and knows the name of his favorite toy……

It’s a balmy 11 degrees F here and we a fresh bit of snow.

However even though snow is white Huey has brown ice sickles…look in his kennel snow is tan/brown and really packed…no pile of to pick up…yep we got sickles. Guess who gets the first bath tonight?!

The vet suggested keeping my dog on Librela and weaning her off the Gabapentin so that's what we're doing. She had a shot yesterday and is happy to sleep the day away. Here she is this morning in one of the spare bedrooms where I keep my personal computer. She has to be near me at all times since I'm her emotional support animal.

Wife just bought a pup: another Catahoula. To add to two 7yo critters, male and sister. NOTHING gets through our gate. They love people but never have I seen a dog judge a person in such short order. The dogs nail it every time. If they weird out the person is not trustworthy. Period. They stay outside the gate.

When we moved from flatlands to forest we went a different direction for dog duty. Work, security, etc. My gosh I loved my German Shep but she aged out. But a true working dog is without argument. GS didn't work too good in the forest.

We have 50 pigs. The GS watched them but wasn't raised with them. The Catahoula dogs are watching. constantly, everywhere. Including people. Both dogs can judge people but I think the Cats are more discerning. Certainly better in different biomes. Some are better than others in geography. But the swamp dogs even without swamp are first in class. And way too smart.

They love Hershey kisses once in a while and we don't worry about anything. They hear through walls.

You do know that chocolate is a serious NO NO with dogs right?
Yea pretty much any commercial chocolate is not that much real coco if any.
It's not the coco that's the issue it's the Caffeine in the coco, Caffeine is a killer to any dog!
Bakers chocolate is the worst, along with power bars!

Yes. Just a single kiss. It's a non-issue to a 90+# very active protector. It'd be worse damage if they rode to the city on a trip. We eat really good but I wish we could do the same for the dogs.

Mass produced dog food sucks. Bubba loves his asparagus stumps. Don't get in the way of his raw asparagus - would send a pict but its too big.

I too give our pups an occasional bit of chocolate - usually as part of something else, like cake. Before I did I checked with Cornell University's vet school publication on it:

One of the most common toxicities in dogs is caused by chocolate ingestion. Dogs cannot metabolize chocolate in the same way people can, so keeping chocolate or products containing caffeine in a secure location out of your dog’s reach is essential. The amount ingested that can cause toxicity depends on the size of the dog and the type of chocolate, with darker and more bitter chocolates being the most toxic. If your dog accidentally ingests chocolate, contact an emergency veterinarian immediately.
Cause
Two toxic components to dogs found in chocolate are caffeine and theobromine, which predominately cause stimulation of the central nervous system and heart. They also act as diuretics, which can quickly lead to dehydration. Dogs may also be at risk for developing gastrointestinal distress or even pancreatitis because many chocolate products are high in fat and sugar.
The amount of theobromine and caffeine in a chocolate product varies, but generally, the darker the chocolate, the higher the risk to dogs. The potential for toxicity is highest in cocoa powder, followed by unsweetened (baker’s) chocolate, semisweet and sweet dark chocolate, milk chocolate and cocoa bean hulls. For example, one ounce of milk chocolate per pound of a dog’s body weight can be deadly compared to unsweetened baking chocolate, where as little as 0.1 ounces per pound of a dog’s body weight may be lethal. For this reason, even ingesting small amounts, especially in a smaller dog, should be treated as an emergency.


Even the worst chocolate - baking chocolate - (who gives their dog baking chocolate) requires a fair amount to be lethal. Our 85lb lab would need 8.5 oz of the worst kind. Reality, like JRHILL, they actually get something like .1oz in a chocolate cookie or piece of cake.

I agree with ctfjr's post above, but I offer this as something to consider.

An engineer I worked with had two full size Basset Hounds.
After he left for work, the dogs found an unopened 15lb box of assorted chocolates, and proceeded to eat it.
All.
Including most of the little brown paper cups.
They seemed fine, but he took them to a 24hr vet, who kept them overnight.
The vet observed no ill effects, and sent them home.
????
The only thing I can think of, knowing this incredibly cheap engineer, is that the chocolates were so cheaply made that they had virtually no chocolate in them.

When these two were young pups whilst alone in my truck, they proceeded to eat a full pack of chewing gum, wrappers and all. I wasn't concerned about health risks but sure was startled every time one farted and it sounded like a gun shot when the bubble burst!

I had one of my Wolves that was really really fond of Bubble tape, he was so cool, he would eat just little bits at time.

We had brother and sister German shepherds. Our daughter had the male, we have the female.

We used to dog sit him quite often. He would take uo for my wife and Gypsy takes up for me

I had one of my Wolves that was really really fond of Bubble tape, he was so cool, he would eat just little bits at time.

My mom's boyfriend has a black nose cur/ bull mastiff mix that weighs around 120 to 150 lbs.

He's an absolute knuckle head.

He flopped on his back for a belly rub. So of course I obliged. Moms BF told me to take about 5 steps from him and ignore him.

That idiot wiggled across the floor on his back, so his belly was still exposed for rubs until he was right next to me. I gave him a couple rubs on his belly, then walked across the room. He followed me around the kitchen like that

Gypsy can't stand me wearing a bandaid on my fingers. If I had my hand over the side of the chairs or couch, I'll start feeling gentle tugging (about consistent with a guppies nibbles.

Then I'll feeling the occasional deliberate gentle tug along with the guppy nibbles.

I'll look and She'll have the end of the bandaid between one of her upper and lower teeth and concentrating really hard on sneaking it off from my finger
