What would be the purpose of an auxiliary PTO on the back mounted on the tractor PTO? The hydraulic lines come from the tank to the PTO and back up to the lever controls. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a PTO mounted pump or some strange hydraulic device like a hydraulic motor driven PTO shaft.

Look at internet pictures of both and you can probably figure that out.

Alot of older tractors didn't have loaders on them. The hydraulic pump that was installed, wasn't enough to move a loader around. When a loader was installed, they'd use a PTO mounted hydraulic pump to power it.

I think you're confusing terms or I'm confused??
PTO is the spinning shaft out of the back of the tractor, there is on some models also a MID PTO(center facing forward), and front PTO.
If it's hydraulic Quick disconnects, That is a remote, used for various implement controls.
Or as others have said it might be that you are pointing out a pump mounted to the Rear PTO.
