Neighbor had gotten signed up a couple weeks ago. There appointment was the middle of March. They called one of the local grocery store pharmacies, explained their situation. They were able to get bumped up due to a cancelation and are scheduled for 2 weeks from now.
My appt is not until next Thursday, hoping they haven’t run out by then. Pretty much all other sites are saying no vaccine. Also hoping for no snow. I imagine it will all work out eventually, but I am one of those “let’s get this over with” people.

Skeets they are all different! Including ones you probably have had. I saw a table comparing a bunch of them, if I can find it again I’ll post it. The Pfizer and Moderna are different from the Merck vaccine, new mechanism. In many ways a much cleaner approach as long as you aren’t allergic to the substances that the active components are suspended in. As always which is worse, getting the disease or getting a vaccination. Neither is risk free.

There are several places online that list the ingredients. You can DDG to find it.

Here is an interesting article. It is about time that we start seeing admissions from the drug manufacturers. Merck is the first one, will the others follow?

Depends on what you mean by others. That is not an “admission” in the sense you mean. They unblinded their data, did the analysis, and were disappointed. They have a possible additional path to follow, but right now their vaccine is not meeting the criteria for release. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines at this point did meet the criteria for release, including being substantially better than natural infection at producing immunity. See post 182.

I disagree with your statement that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines meet the criteria for release. I disagree with your statement because I disagree with the agencies that defined the criteria for release. Dead bodies soon after taking the vaccine is not viable criteria in my mind.

Here's a first person story of what happens to older folks, specifically in nursing homes. Believe what you choose, but be aware of risk.

I have seen several stories that are saying the same thing. It seems that there is a conspiracy to reduce the social security rolls.

I got my first shot today. Moderna. Nothing is risk free. My half sister, 96 yrs old and in a care facility, and who is perfectly capable of making a reasoned choice, after consulting with her doctor, CHOSE to take the vaccine last week. No problems so far. Keeping in mind that the first shot doesn’t provide full immunity and she or I could still catch Covid tomorrow and die, not because of the shot but in spite of the shot. My reading convinces me that my risk due to side effects of the vaccine is lower than the risk associated with Covid. Neither is 0. But then driving on Michigan roads is not 0 either.
YMMV.

Here is an update on adverse events associated with vaccination

As noted before it is not 0, but for most of us 2 to 11 out of a million for anaphylaxis, means you’d have to be pretty unlucky.

Wife had the second shot for the Moderna vaccine so I figured I would give an update.

First shot she felt like she got kicked in the arm by a horse for a few days afterwards.
The arm pain started the next day after the shot and lasted for 3 days.

Second shot, her arm started hurting within a couple hours. She couldn't lift it any higher then her shoulder last night.

Then in the middle of the night last night, she developed flu like symptoms. Pounding headache, aches and pains besides her arm, upset tummy, hot and cold sweats, as well as a low grade fever.

Sounds like fun, I can hardly wait. That sounds like what I have heard. About the same as for shingles shot.

The news media, Facebook and others downplayed or blocked information on Hydroxycloroquine. Now FB announced this was a mistake.

Here's a report on HCQ as studied by C19Study Group.

A new study posted in the American Journal of Medicine in January found that early treatment of coronavirus patients with hydroxychloroquine lowered the mortality rate for the disease.

The study found that immediate use of HCQ, while the patient was still at home, showed significant benefits.

This is just the latest study that shows the effectiveness of HCQ in treating the coronavirus.

For the past several months the website c19study.com has been tracking the HCQ-coronavirus studies.

According to c19study.com there have been 237 studies, 171 of which were peer reviewed that show 67% of patients improved in early treatment trials.

Also today the Facebook Oversight Board announced it was overturning a previous case on the effectiveness of HCQ.

Facebook’s previously removed a post on the use of hydroxychloroquine in France which it claimed, “contributes to the risk of imminent… physical harm.”

Today Facebook announced this was a mistake.

American publilc can learn more truth from other countries then our new outlets. Their delivery is slanted to their opinion/political leanings.

Hopefully you don't have the same reaction my wife currently has. 102 fever, upset belly, and the mother of all headaches. 2 hours and then she can take some excedrin migraine.

My wife won't be taking the Moderna vaccine ever again.

Daren, I hope that your wife recovers quickly. May The Lord bless her with a quick and complete recovery.
