I ordered the Catawba 55 today and it's in stock. Really impressive construction. Call them or email for stock information. I'll do updates when it arrives.
I ordered the 60" grapple and a pair of fork this past yesterday! Great guys there, and a first responder discount as well!

I have about 4 hours of actual hard use on my 55 Catawba grapple, moved piles of trees, brush and
some large rocks. First hour was a learning curve on how to manipulate the material and grapple
position in order to grab the material but after some practice the grapple works good.

It is a quality product and so far I have no issues.

N.Y,
Just picked mine up from the freight terminal and can't believe how fast it got here. I am impressed by those grippers on the lower cross tubes and how the jaws interact. There's 100% gripping of anything over an inch all across the face. First trip out since the double covid and nap time now. I'll get it unloaded later with better pics.

nice, guessing you don't look over your shoulder to backup ??? ;)
That's what mirrors are for when the load is higher then the Backflip cover so it must be folded up. Worst part is with the tailgate open the camera faces down also. That Ranger has a tiny bed.

N.Y,
Here's some quick pics. It seems very well built. This definitely has a lot of welding in it. Full welds both sides of all stress areas. It must take a half day just to weld it up.
1000002235.jpg

Very nice job hiding the hoses and high quality gates hose
1000002236.jpg

Stands up nice and cylinders are hidden well
1000002239.jpg

The main reason I bought it is how small a root ot vine can be clamped with those teeth bars.that blue ball is 1 1/4 diameter won't slip through anywhere across the bottom
1000002240.jpg

I got the ag style couplings. The tripled fully welded rake teeth are done nicely
1000002242.jpg

Back view of hidden hoses and quick connect plates.
1000002241.jpg

Only area without grease fittings are the cylinder mounts that look to be high grade bolts. I'll shoot graphite in them. All the pivots have grease fittings. Looks great. There's some weld spatter under the paint in areas but otherwise has a decent finish for an implement. Can't wait for my tractor to arrive so I can try it. I definitely made the right choice for my needs.

I would suggest replacing the cylinder mount pivot bolts, with others that contact the bolt surface, rather than the bolt THREAD surface.
Would use grade 2 bolts,....... perhaps grade 5, at most.
Worn bolts are easy to replace,....cast cylinder mounts are not!
I made brass bolts for my ( different brand) grapple cyl. mounts.

I was thinking the same thing. I have some 1 inch longer bolts that could be cut down and eliminate threads in the cylinder mount area. I could cross drill softer bolts for a grease feed easily then.

Just received mine, everything looks great, except I probably should have told the dealer to install a half inch rather than 3/8 flat face!!!

That stinks. What connectors are used on the rear remotes? I think front and rear should match. Catawba didn't have a 3/8 option?

I have some time now on my 55" Catawba grapple and I cannot
really find anything to complain abut. I have used it to grab and
move a few large boulders that just fit within the jaws with no issues but mostly the grapple was used for tree cleanup.

I cut down over 20 large, maybe 4O foot trees and the grapple
did a fine job of cleaning up the mess.

Is it better than another grapple? Cant say as I never owned another grapple. All I can say is I worked it hard and it did the job with no issues.

I just made a video about my grapple and I love it. Long boring video but I went from unpacking to trying it out. It is a perfect fit for my machine and I feel extremely well made. It's extremely rigid and seems to be the same weight as the bucket. Perfect for a compact tractor.

Nice review. Looks like a quality implement. What did you get figured out on the loader frame hose routing / glass?

N.Y,
Right now have the dealership involved. It appears the 3rd function lines are the problem. They put them in the ring with the other hoses and strapped them tight to the loader hoses. That works with the 4030c loaders they are used to installing. This is a 4030 loader I ordered with an extra 20 inch reach dump at full height that has different geometry and the 3rd function hoses need to be outside the loop and strapped to the side not back of the loader hoses to clear the windshield it appears. They never lifted it to full height after installing the 3rd function lines. Everything else with the machine is perfect.

Well 1 strike against Kioti. They say that's how it should be. Maybe I'm just being anal as it's the only thing I don't like about the machine. I may make a simple shield.

Was that an issue on comparable Kubotas? (I don’t have a cabbed machine so i don’t know)

The LX cab with quick connect has a similar setup and they formed up a rod to keep it from hitting. The standard LX cab looks to have the hoses on the inside and no issues. I'm going to try to bend up a guide rod like the Kubota one.
