Any L3301 Recommendations?

We would like to buy an L3301HST w/loader.
Does any who owns a L3301HST recommend it and/or would you buy another?
If you bought another, what would you do different?

600hrs put on mine since Feb 2018 (bought new) and not any trouble, using my Backhoe (putting in French Drains), Brush hog (on hilly ground), rear blade for snow removal (on gravel), and doing some roadwork with gravel, using the FEL and a Box Blade. Now using a grapple for some woods work here and there. I also put in 5 food plots that came in well (so I used a 3pt spreader, sprayer, and did some disk work for those). Just been doing routine maintenance by the book. If I had it to do again, I might have considered going on up to a 3901 but in reality, I had already gone with the 3301 after initially focusing on a 2501.

I only put 100 hrs on mine before I sold it last week. No issues. Would buy a front grill guard since I used a grapple fairy frequently. Would have widened the rear tires before receiving the tractor from the dealer.

Knowing what tasks you are trying to accomplish with the tractor will help get better responses.

I have a l2501 with almost 400hrs and can make it do alot of things I would not have thought it was capable of. One suggestion is to plan for the future. If you think there might be a chance you would use a certain attachment, ie a grapple, then have the 3rd function put on then at purchase. The dealer will usually install it for little or no labor cost at that time. Otherwise it will cost alot more later. Just my two cents

I'm in the same place as Ayak - initially was looking at the 2501 but decided I wanted more power. I would seriously consider a 3901 now so I had just a bit more power, but I've been happy with the 3301.

As mentioned, knowing exactly what you plan to do with it will help with feedback. For me, I have 2 clear acres that require various types of maintenance: plowing and tilling, moving leaves (to compost pile usually), digging, moving dirt and gravel, etc., and also maintaining a mile-long dirt road.

I have L3200 and L3901, both HST, it was important to me to have around 25pto hp as a lot of attachments recommended this as minimum HP. I priced a L3301 but it was not a lot extra to go to L3901, so I went for the L3901.

recommend loaded rear tires, front 3rd function hydraulics and 2 sets of rear remotes. Fit rear telescopic stabilizer bars on 3pt hitch.

I have an L2501dt. First tractor i have ever bought. I run heavy equipment for a job and this little tractor gets the job done just fine. Pretty sure the 25 33 and 39 all lift the same weight. I bought the 2501 because i plan on keeping it forever and can work on it myself without having to deal with the regen system. I went with the dt (gear drive) because i mostly use it to mow and plow my driveway. There is no reason to ever buy an hst. Way too noisey (loud whining from hydraulic system), have to run it with the throttle up which drinks a lot of fuel. People will say hst is easier for loader work but i disagree

I should try a gear L sometime because although I've become more tolerant of it I agree with you about the hydro whine. Plowing maybe, but for mowing IMO there's no comparison, an HST is far better than gear. To be efficient I'm continuously changing speed while mowing for all sorts of reasons; thick grass, thin grass, turns, hills, etc. both with my L2501 pulling a flail and my ZTR. Having been a die hard gear lover for my garden tractors over the years maybe 30 years back my Wheel Horse dealer friend had me try both gear and hydro to mow. He was right rather than traveling a steady speed in 2-hi I found myself traveling at various speeds, most times well faster than 2-hi.

Will be interesting to see what you decide. I have a L2501 and strongly considered the L3301. What swayed me was the no DPF, and the fact that L2501 seems a bit underrated and the torque curve is lower in the RPM range, as is the PTO RPM.

It really was analysis-paralysis; starting from L2501, it's only $3k more for the L3301, but it's only another $2k more for the L3901. Given the only difference in machines is the PTO power, if I needed the power of the L3901 why not go MX and have more power and loader lift capacity?

Guy on the next road has a 2501 with a BH77 on back and he notices that his has less power. He still is amazed at what it does.
I think the 3301 is a nice compromise and will do what you need. For the cost savings (unless you'll be working big implements real hard) the 3301 is a good way to go.

I have a 1 year old L3301, I put about 250 hours on it. Its ok, it depends on what you are doing with it but I wish I had a bigger tractor. For this price range its a solid machine. I had an issue with the loader and it took a month and a half "waiting in line" to get it fixed. The fix took about a day but the dealer was so busy they couldn't get to it. Luckily I got the KTAC insurance so I only had to pay deductible. I am constantly wanting to pick up stuff bigger than it can handle, but overall it does about 80% of what I want it to. I came from a Grand L equivalent so my expectations might be out of whack. If I had the cash I would have gotten a used skid steer and an old pulling tractor instead.

If you want a L3301 just buy the L3901 and get the extra pto hp. Buy once, cry once.
The OP hasn't said what he wanted to do with the tractor.
I had the L3301 and now have upgraded to the MX5400.

I love my L3301HST. Mine has a loader, R4's, 3rd function, SSQC, grapple and canopy.
Very useful and great for technical stuff. Seems powerful for it's rating.
It has about 120hrs. The only issues I have experienced were self inflicted.

I agree that if you are going to deal with DPFs, buy a L3901 at least. Better would be a Grand L limited.
