Adding Rear Remotes to BX

Hi-

I've got the BX7326 rear remote kit on order for my BX1860 and am planning on doing the install myself.

Up until now, I've not installed new hydraulic lines on my tractor and was wondering if I should use or not use teflon tape or some kind of sealant when tightening up the new hydraulic fittings?

There seem to be a number of threads out there on this subject, so I feel like I can probably handle this install...but if anyone has done this and has any advice, I'm always willing to listen.

I guess this would depend on the type of fittings you have? A lot of fittings are designed to seal on an o-ring or some kind of flare like JIC (in other words, the threads don't do the sealing). In this case, putting something on the threads doesn't do anything but create potential problems.

I see - that makes sense to me. I haven't seen the kit just yet so not sure how the fittings are designed. Definitely don't want to cause problems down the road with the hydraulic system.

I use locktite 5452 on all fittings, it's great.

You can put this on the mating surface of a flare as well. I could see loctite on threads to prevent them from getting loose.

I have been using it for years instead of Teflon tape without issues

I just installed the BX7326 rear aux. kit on my BX2370. The only fittings that need some type of sealant are where the quick couplers attach to the tubes. The instructions from Kubota state- and I quote- "Wrap sealing tape around the ends of the pipe, insert the plugs and tighten up the couplers."

I installed this kit last year on my bx2670-1, The install is not really that hard but there is not much room to work, Everything has to line up perfectly. I also suggest crows foot wrenches and stubby open end wrenches to be able to tighten everything down. I think I mainly used 18 and 19mm.

Almost forgot, also had to replace one fitting that is on the tractor as it was 3” long and replace with a standard size fitting so the kit would fit, so you may want to see what your tractor is using, I think the fitting was a 37 degree flare to straight thread 9/16 - 18. Installed rear remotes on my BX2370-1 a couple years ago. Not difficult and as others have mentioned, crows foot makes the job a little less difficult. Only thread dope you***8217;ll need is for the 1/4 NPT nipples that the quick couplers thread into. I use loctite brand, can***8217;t remember the #. The ORBs and JIC fittings don***8217;t require it. I do use a dab of never seize on the threads and tubing behind the nut of the JIC connections so they don***8217;t rust themself together in the future. Hope this helps

I just ordered this kit and hydraulic top link, how did your install go? I have a wide variety of metric crows feet, but only a few stubby metric box wrenches, was there anything special that stood out about the install?

Nice - hydraulic top link is on my Christmas list this year.

The install was pretty straight forward - tight at times, but overall easy to follow. The one part that stands out is how (almost comically) difficult it is to determine the correct orientation of the hard lines running from the valve body to the remotes on the back. I can't describe this, but once you get the directions, you will see what I'm talking about. Once you get the kit, and if you run into any trouble, drop me a line and I can get some pictures up for you - might help with the hard line orientation.

For MY BX23S-au I decided the kit was to expensive for what it was. Also had to make new coupler mounts and and hoses to fit it.

As I dont need the tilt, just the top link, I mounted the valve on the top link and just plugged into the 3 outlets for the backhoe.

Expensive? The kit is $300, I think that’s pretty cheap by Kubota and tractor standards lately

The BX7326 kit does not fit BX23 BX24 because the backhoe frame.

Here in OZ the kit for the BX2380 was $1800aud.
I only use the top link when I have the box blade on which is not that often. I find it too much hassle to fit the box blade. Mainly in the time needed to install the 3PL kit after removing the the BH. Added to that I only need the box blade for the rippers as the 4in1 bucket does everything else the box blade can do.

That being said $300usd ($420Aud) for a valve and hose, overpriced in my opinion. I paid $130Aud ($96Usd) for the valve lines and fittings, for me a much better option.

You are right about modifying the kit but it is not the backhoe frame that is the issue for fitting the BX2380 kit on the BX23s. The issue is the ROPS mount and Couplers interfere with swivelling the seat.

You can reverse the mount to put it on the outside of the ROPS but the hard lines need to me remade as they are no longer long enough. The easier option is to have some flexible lines made to suit.

I'm not sure about the US version of the BX23s as we get the BX23S-AU but the backhoe frame support is no issue for us. As I understand it the only real difference in the 2 models is we get the Kubota (not land pride) 4in1 bucket standard

The kit for the 80 series is not the same as the kit for the 50 and 60 series. You are referencing an entirely different kit. Corrected my earlier post to reflect B24

Hello 34by151, do you have details on exactly which valve you bought and how they are hooked up to the hoses for the backhoe? I would like to do the same thing as you have done here. Thanks!
