A bit harsh but I understand what you’re saying. I don’t think there is anything wrong with adding an indicator light to aid in something. Doesn’t mean you don’t understand how things work. Aviation was a great example. All kinds of lights and reminder alarms. You put your landing gear down and look for 3 green correct? Kubota has both 4x4 and parking break on my dash. Doesn’t mean I don’t understand how it works it’s just a reminder and nothing wrong with that if you ask me.
Op was looking for advise on adding or installing not to be told he shouldn’t need them or talked outa it.
True. I did not intend to become 'old and crusty,' it somehow snuck up on me over time.

I'm looking to get some advice on how I could add a simple warning light to the dash of my L2501 that will let me know if my parking brake is on. There have been a few times I have accidently left the parking brake on and went to drive the tractor and I'm hmmm the hydrostatic is whining louder than usual and then I look down and say DOH! I see the parking brake is on. I've always habit of using the parking brake on previous lawn mowers. I always thought it would turn off the tractor without the parking brake enabled but that is not the case so I only set it now when I don't want it to move for whatever reason.

What would be a pretty simple solution? Maybe add a switch for the brake pedal or perhaps on the parking brake lever?

Any ideas would be really helpful. Thank you!
I’ve done that plenty. What I’ve done is try to make habit of hitting the brakes every time after stopping and getting off and back on. Seems to work well - just need to hit brake pedal consistently releasing parking brake.

I think a lot of guys that have purchased the L2501 did so for it's simplicity.

In my case extra wiring and a switch just gives the mice something more to chew on! LOL.

I would be ok without turn signals and bright/dim lights and associated switch and wiring.
I get this. But don't have too much mice around here and the tractor lives in a climate controlled garage. I'm not worried about that too much, I've wired a lot of things in "toys" I had over the years...when I did all the wiring in my Polaris ranger...I got praised by Polaris HQ 😂

I got asked if I wanted a job, thought they were joking. Wished I took it hahaha.

But yeah out thousand miles of wiring I have done in toys and cars, never had mice chew anything expect factory wiring on a Toyota truck and apparently that's due to Toyota using a certain insulation that nice like... believe it's soy-based. Kubota is Japanese like Toyota sooooo I sure hope Kubota didn't use soy-based insulation.

But the truck lives outside and the tractor lives in the garage 😂

Soon people will be wanting Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems on tractors! 😂
Yep like those that whine about “i have to have a cab or ill melt” 🤣.
get a kick out of the haters over a tiny switch and minimal wire 😆
Pretty funny actually

I don't feel there is anything wrong with adding a warning light. I added one to the muscle car for the parking brake. It's easy to forget it's on sometimes. The red light on the dash is a simple indicator to remind me to make sure it's not enabled. That's all.

What's wrong with that? Geez.

Dummy lights are handy sometimes. I'm not perfect. All I want to do is prevent damage and premature wear. That's all.

Very useful item. Even in our circle track cars we put a truck body light on the dash hooked to brake pedal. Not just for in car cameras to let us know when driver gets on the brakes… but to let driver see he might be riding the brakes down the straights. After all most of us race using 2 feet…. Idiot lights not just for idiots.👍👍👍

The warning light on my LX2610 has not helped me one bit. Might have to connect it to an air horn as well to get my attention. Seriously I now try to look at it before I step on the pedal when first moving the tractor.

heck, I drive that way all the time....
Not the greatest idea for joe average. We try not to teach it with new drivers… Most 2 feet drivers drag the brakes before lifting on go pedal 🤣

My L3901DT has a light on the dash for the "parking brake" and I had tried to move the tractor before with the brakes on. It does let you know why the engine is grunting a little :)

If I was going to add an "idiot light" (and I might one day), I would make sure it was a "Big ole, blinking one" to get my attention.

It should make no difference to anyone, what someone else chooses to do with THEIR tractor. Adding an operator warning light is no different than adding a billion candlewatts worth of lights like some feel they need. The 01 series is Kubota’s “low budget” series. It is intended to be a little cheaper by leaving off some of the stuff that the other series have. No different than buying the bottom package on a car or truck.

I considered adding a parking brake indicator as well. Ended up putting it off and now have a routine of stepping on the brake pedal during start up. Actually, I don’t use the parking brake as much as I should. Anyhow, if you decided to add one please post your process.

On my 2502 when my brakes are set, the tractor does not like to move and the HST will whine like no tomorrow. It definitely lets you know immediately that you have the brakes on...

You guys got me to thinking about the benefits of warning lights. How about a sensor on the rim of the toilet so if I mis-pee a light comes on and I can re-direct? ;)

Warning light is great but can I get a mechanism that smacks me in the shin every time I leave the brake engaged and go to drive?

My teenage twin boys are just today coming off of a week long grounding for their inability to lift the toilet seat.

Just realized today that the 2502 has a parking brake warning light. Kubota must be including that going forward.
