Friday I was hurting in my lower gut so a Dr. visit resulted in a CT scan. The scan revealed Acute Appendicitis so I spent Friday night in ER being pumped full of antibiotics and emergency surgery was ordered for Saturday morning. Everything went well and I am back at home now, sore and slow walking. No duty for two weeks and then limited duty for a couple more weeks.

Glad they caught it before it ruptured. Might seem routine to some but that’s pretty dangerous stuff. Hope you’re back to normal quickly.

Take it easy! Busting things open won't be an improvement.

Glad they caught it in time. (y)

The only time acute appendicitis is a good thing is if you get a cute nurse with it.

And even then it's not.

Same thing happened to me in my 20's! Just watch for temperature spikes in the next few days. Turned out I had an infection afterwards with temps near 103 deg. Had to go back on the table where they opened the incision and left it open to drain. Best of luck to ya!

Good Catch! Get Well!

This happened to our son two decades ago…and our daughter two years ago. Same symptoms with fever added.

Despite the criticisms of ”modern medicine” systems….. We’re lucky to live in the times we do.

Glad they caught it, take your time healing up!

I did that scenario when I was 13.

Just to even things up, I didn't get a tonsillectomy until I was 40...

30 yrs ago mine was removed…I am not sure the process now, but mine made incision through the adomen and cut through the abdominal muscles…as I recall sneezing, coughing, hiccups and laughter hurt…however I see you are playing through pain and still active on ‘daily chuckle’…don’t laugh too hard. Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks guys. Yes this is generally a "young folk" gig and you can imagine the Dr's expression when he walked in and found a 79 year old fart lying in the bed.

Today is day 4 and the soreness is greatly reduced, still there, but less.

I realize why I am still sawmilling at my age because this sitting around is for chickens and ducks, and I neither cluck nor quack.

This reminds me of the old joke about the future father-in-law warning the soon-to-be son-in-law that his daughter had acute angina….

Glad it was caught in time. I had this when I was around 18. Went to my doctor who said to keep an eye on it and see him again if the pain got worse. My father was not happy and was able to get an appointment with another doctor in another town. That doctor said it was not serious enough to operate immediately but insisted I go directly to the hospital, and he would operate the following morning. It was ready to rupture.
