I've heard a thousand debates over left and right between mechanics and operators so we typically refer to street side/curb side or driver's/passenger's etc. but I like the idea of port and starboard too! 🍻

Since they are rarely on, it would take a few minutes to figure out which side is which.
On a BX, the arms are identical
Even though L35's originally included the 3pt arms, it's pretty rare to find one for sale that has them still around. Like mine, many have never had the BH off, and the arms get misplaced.
Would it be possible to use them as permanent ballast on the tractor?

I understand on some models there's a place to stow them, but not on the L35. The BH makes good ballast though.
I thought they were stored on the subframe under the left step?
I might be thinking of a newer TLB.

no driver on a boat.. ;)
There's a captain. And the captain must be sober. The helmsman, however........
Had a friend who used to take his teenage daughter out on the yacht, she had a boat master's certificate. He could drink and sail. She was in charge.

The British use the terms nearside and offside. Nearside refers to the side closest to the curb—when driving on the left side of the road, this is the side furthest from the driver, who sits on the right side of the car.
A friend of mine who works as a driving instructor tells me that many students struggle to distinguish between left and right, so when giving directions, he always clarifies: "At the next intersection, turn left—your side" or "Turn right—my side." The officials conducting the driving test use the same approach, by common agreement in the driver's ed industry. They know for a fact, that being confused about left and right doesn't affect driving safely, since we don't have traffic signs with "left" and "right" written out - only arrrows.

yeesh, if they don't know their left form they're right..they should NOT be driving !
If they don't know they're from their, they shouldn't be posting on the internet? ;-)

I often have difficulty with left from right. Some people are very strongly "handed", I'm not. I'm mostly ambidextrous, I write with my left hand (a very sinister thing), and play sports right handed. Apparently that is correlated with not knowing left and right well. I can remember it based on which hand my watch is on. But when asked quickly I often don't get it. Hence my partner is often saying to me "not that one, the other right".

Not the same. Left and right depends on the direction you are facing. Port and starboard do not.
