    Advice from L3902 HST owners

Wow. Reminds me why NZ is the lowest cost producer of animal protein in the world (lowest carbon too). Because we just don't get those extremes. Every day is an open station day. Middle of winter I might see zero with a frost, but usually I just need a jumper. Middle of summer we get some days...

Kubota BX 1880 mower PTO locking cap.

That's pretty weird. Jiggle it / lube it / tap it a bit? It should just spring back, so one of the ball bearings or something has hung up a bit or it's gotten sticky.

    Advice from L3902 HST owners

My brother-in-law has a Massey 135, my mother has a Ferguson TEA. The 135 is a diesel and a reasonably nice machine whilst still being vintage (I'm old enough that I have trouble with tractors from the 70s being vintage.....but they are). The TEA is the same age as my father was (1948), and a...

    Advice from L3902 HST owners

If you want a tractor for fun (i.e. you have a perfectly fine M7060 that can do the job, you are doing this because you think it'd be fun to have a different machine) I'd be looking at some sort of vintage machine. Because if it breaks you can just use the M, and the duties you describe don't...

    Buying first Kubota (used)

You definitely wouldn't want an add-on (3ph) backhoe. Digging limestone will work it pretty hard. The subframe attached model will do better, perhaps with a ripper on it rather than a bucket. And work slow. But ultimately @fried1765 is right, a mini-ex will do that kind of work way better.

    Buying first Kubota (used)

Yeah, I'd sort of like a backhoe, even though I'd use it only once or twice a year. The reality is that much of the trenching I do I couldn't get the tractor to anyway. For straight and narrow trench in open spaces, a chain trencher (ditch witch) is way faster....

Tractor stuck in a failed shop.

Probably need to make a new thread rather than adding to an old one. My thought is that lots of people don't have proof of ownership in the way they seem to be asking. I'd go visit them in person and explain the situation. You have an owner's manual with the serial number written on it, your...

    LX3520 or L3302?

That's an opinion, not a fact. If you're just being deliberately argumentative, then fine, that's the internet I guess. You clearly either didn't read the list of things I was doing (that a zero turn can't do), or you just didn't care and want to argue. I'm not in the habit of telling other...

    LX3520 or L3302?

People keep saying that. I disagree. People have different experiences. I can take my deck off in 1 minute, and put it on in 2 minutes. I've had this discussion many times, so I even made a video of me doing it. It's like anything, practice helps, and so do some good tips. I can do it without...

    LX3520 or L3302?

Lots of reasons people might want to have a belly mower. Not everyone is the same. Plenty of people like to tell people to buy a zero turn, or buy a cheap riding mower. But just because it works for them, doesn't mean it works for everyone. I mow 5km of roadside with my B2601 and belly mower. I...

    LX3520 or L3302?

It is. But it's 72 inch and very heavy duty. It'll take way more punishment than any box store rider will. If you're dropping the money for an LX with a cab, the mower isn't really that much more.

LX2610 front end loader removal pin stuck

Are you front wheels on the ground? Mine come loose when the front wheels are off the ground. You have to nudge the loader just right - mine is a bit of a combination of curl and down force to come loose. If there's no adjust you can do with the loader control that loosens it, then that does...

Z421 60" deck with play in one spindle

Probably. I think the logic is: - grease-able bearing that is regularly greased lasts longer than - ungrease-able/sealed bearing, which in turn lasts longer than - grease-able bearing that isn't greased because the owner doesn't bother/doesn't know And so we get ungrease-able bearings on home...

    LX3520 or L3302?

A 3pt mower would weigh more than the belly mower in transport mode. The LX belly mower is ground contact, so the weight of it isn't on the LX wheels when mowing. Different people have different needs. The LX is a reasonable amount lighter than the L - in fact, that's one of the limitations...

Z421 60" deck with play in one spindle

Not sure why greasing makes a difference to balancing, but I don't balance and I do have zerks and grease often. The B2601 deck is quite a bit heavier duty than the BX I had before. I'm pretty sure the spindles will tolerate it. It gets many worse things happen to it than unbalance blades...

    Hydraulic fluid change?

A lot of machines will say "every 200 hours, or every 2 years" or some such. You're quite a lot of years even though low hours. I don't think fluids age as such, but yes they could get moisture into them. It can't hurt to change it. It probably won't hurt to leave it. It's probably a few...

    Buying first Kubota (used)

Is there reason to think it has a backhoe? They're reasonably rare, and you can't easily retrofit - it either has one when you get it, or it'll pretty much never have one. (I know, in theory you could find a used one with all the subframe and plumbing that's needed to attach it, but you might...

    LX3520 or L3302?

Lighter. Some people need to trailer, some people are doing work around their property that doesn't need weight (such as mowing). Option for a cab. Some people want/need a cab. Better ergonomics, more luxury features. Some people don't want a bigger/heavier but more economy machine. They want...

    Buying first Kubota (used)

Definitely a BX of some sort. They're a good machine. I had a BX2350 for a few years. If you're doing heavy lifting put a bit more air in the front tires, they are reasonably small and easy to squash. And ballast the rear - get a weight box or a heavy implement to hang on the back. I personally...

Z421 60" deck with play in one spindle

I sharpen my own blades on the bench grinder, and never balance them. Doesn't seem to impact things too much. In theory it'll put loads on the bearings, make the blades wobble, and make my deck vibrate more. None of them have been too much of a problem as yet.
