Looking for “Black pipe dope” advice………...

Teflon tape has always been the most reliable way to seal up pipe threads for me. The trick is to use two to three wraps around the thread to give it enough thickness to do its job.

    Wheel/Tire weird bump or something

Very common issue and temperature is a factor. Tires need heat to restore them to round again. Maybe jack up the suspect tire and leave it sit in the sun for a day?

What was that saying?….”measure 398 times, cut once…..dumbass”

The challenge I’m having is remembering all those tools/jigs/fixtures I have accumulated through the years that you don’t use very often. I prefer keeping things in drawers for neatness but out of sight out of mind applies here. I keep saying I need to go through the drawers on some kind of...

    DIY press brake

Paul, with that thickness range and length I would suggest you add a truss rod system to your lower die holder so you can ‘crown’ it to compensate for deflection. Your dies are wide enough to reduce the amount of tonnage that is required to bend that thickness but you are still in the 5 to 8...

Is that a spring in your pocket, or, are you just glad to see me?

Changing front leaf springs on semi tractors was considered the worst job in the maintenance shop I used to work for! Everything was a fight. Now that its officially a one ton axle, are dual wheels the next project?😉

    Well "Blow me down!"

I’ve had this tumbler for years and I don’t remember where I got it from. Never used it for brass. Just bought a Frankford tumbler kit for my brass reloading and haven’t even opened the box yet. Probably a month or so before I do a batch of cartridges and I’ll let you know what I think of it.

    Well "Blow me down!"

RWS asked: Is that the same type of tumbler used for cleaning brass when reloading? Sorry for getting back to you so late but I just finished a part out of 4140 that I tossed in the vibratory bowl and I wanted to show you the results. To answer your question, yes this is the same thing you use...

    Well "Blow me down!"

Now you are going to have to buy a vibratory tumbler to get rid of the milling marks. See, this stuff never ends! Seriously, nice job on the tee nut and that black makes it look professional!

EDC question ( Asking for a friend)

Skeet’s, that HK would be my choice for sure. Hammer fired, manual safety and a decocking lever would give me the safety insurance I look for. The one I looked up was a 10 round mag. I have a p365 with the manual safety. But I can’t get past those striker fired pistols relying on about .030” of...

Damned if you do........Damned if you don't.......

I changed a thermostat and fan hub in a motel parking lot during a prairie dog hunt several years ago. Dang if it wasn’t on a Dodge too! Doubt I would tackle a differential though. An old timer at our sportsman’s club likes to say prairie dog hunting is the most fun you can have with your pants...

    Distractions, distractions...........damn distractions....

Three jaw chucks can be all over the place as you are finding out. They vary because of the scroll that works the jaws can have variations that will transfer to the jaws. Was the runout consistent with the different diameters? If so, I have seen where the jaws were trued up with a grinder...

    L3901 seat suspension

Just curious. Does it live outside or is it stored inside?

    Distractions, distractions...........damn distractions....

Here is what I would do: chuck up a piece of round stock with the jaws the standard way and measure run out. Do it with several diameters. Winner of the contest gets to stay the same and the other gets flipped.
