    Good Morning

Things are starting to green up again here. Light frost the other morning. 54° here this AM. #3 Son's family headed to Raystown Lake for a few days hoping the rain doesn't get that far inland. Not a lot of color around here.

    Metal hydraulic line keeps blowing

I'm thinking that's a contributor as well. Is there any reason the hose couldn't maybe take a slightly different route so it would fit? Not on a tractor, but I've seen tubing fail at bends. I thought it was due to the place in the line that absorbs the movement, plus the metal gets stressed...

    Old Movies

Always loved Clint's "spaghetti westerns" and recently have been finding others like the Lee Van Cleef movies and just watched the 2-1/2 hour version of Duck You Sucker with James Coburn and Rod Steiger.

Seeking: spreader bar / load control shaft

I built a receiver for the L4240 for mounting the winch cradle and general use. If you don't need to hang weights on the front, this is a good solid mount. The winch doesn't get mounted unless I need it for something.

Cheap Fix, Hope it lasts (Driveway Cracks)

BTW, you told us how much tar found it's way onto equipment, how much was on you at end of day. I'm happy and surprised to report almost none. Not wearing nice clothes prevented it much like buying a new snow blower prevents snow. "Disposable" clothes were chosen and not a drop got on them...

Cheap Fix, Hope it lasts (Driveway Cracks)

I think that the white lines cause more damage due to the difference in expansion and contraction of the asphalt. The asphalt would be cooler under the white lines than the adjacent black asphalt. There's a parking lot we always traversed crossing the parking space lines and there was a...

It didn't help when I religiously did it at the last house.

Cheap Fix, Hope it lasts (Driveway Cracks)

Most of our driveway is in good shape, but it developed about a half dozen cracks over the last year or two. The original 1990 gravel driveway was blacktopped around '94 and then topped in 2009. The 2009 fix is holding up better than the original blacktop. In an effort to get a few more years...

    Assessing water in hydraulic oil

This is uncharted territory for me. Other than milky-looking 90 weight in a bush hog, I've no experience. 1911's suggestion of testing sounds good. "UDT2 fluid holds 1% of its weight in water" Is that a permissible level? Expected level from the humidity in the air? Not sure what that...

    Assessing water in hydraulic oil

Sounds like a meck of a hess. I really doubt that settling out can be the solution because the oil is in lots of places other then the sump. Any hose or cylinder is also storing contaminated oil. Unless someone knows of a filter that could filter the water out, getting everything empty is the...

    Old Movies

As much as I loved Clint Eastwood's "spaghetti westerns" it was only this week that I discovered Lee Van Cleef made a few of his own. A few different Sabata movies, Death Rides a Horse and probably more. They're unrealistic but very entertaining.

    Oil blow by? on L225DT

First - I have no idea what it is. It looks like a rubber hose connected to an elbow fitting with either a loose hose connection or a damaged elbow. The color of whatever is being sprayed out sure makes it look like engine oil.

Phone app to log/track maintenance for everything

Welcome aboard. That's interesting. I use Felt Tiply. New filters are marked with the date and hours. Mower deck gets greased every 3 or 4 uses as does the loader.

Turned it one time too many.

I use an anti-corrosion paste such as Penertox, NoAlox, CU/AL Aid or the likes when making connections on batteries, grounds, crimps on vehicles. The surfaces are always cleaned first. I coat the cables before stuffing them into the crimp lugs or splices. When bolting ground lugs to steel, I...

    Snowblower Chain

The chain on a used blower I refurbed was OK, but A REAL hardware / farm supply store near me cut chain to fit, plus a spare and had links to make field repairs. I don't remember the cost.

    Snow blower question

Back in 2012 I searched for a reasonably priced cab for the (then) new L3200. Even soft cabs got pricey fast because everything to make them nice was optional. Real glass, a heater and a wiper were desired. I ended up making my own. It cost me around $1,200 and 150 hours of sweat equity.
