I agree with RCW. Just broaden that ditch to be about an 8' wide depression (swale), maybe even a bit deeper than it is now. You can even give it a little curve for aesthetics. Seed it and mow it and it will look great and soak in and drain water.

Ask the ag station for recommendations. Is your lawn sunny or shaded, or some of each? I am a big fan of Creeping Red Fescue for shaded areas.

To say it again, as the bend travels through the notch, there is movement up or down to let you know you are getting to the happy place. It is a very obvious and easy indication to see. (it just kind of plops in)
