Here is a solid video that compares finish, versus rotary cutter, versus flail. Certainly can use a flail mower for cutting rough brush but that is not its forte and you pay a lot more for that privilege. Kevin

Dusty, the manual had the one line that I posted and that was it. Like many manuals the assumption is always that you know what you are doing in general before you even the book.
