Bush hog type cutters should be level side-to-side and 1/2" to 1" higher in the rear than in the front. Mowing height should be adjusted to preference and conditions.

Check electrical and mechanical operation of the fuel shut off solenoid. Once had an acorn wedged in the fuel shut off mechanism of my B1750 preventing shut down.

I forgot about the 48" model. It was used with the B1550 model. I doubt that anyone bought it for the 1750. I bought my B1750 and 60" MMM new in 1994 and have all of the manuals, including the grass catcher manual.

Over running clutches and slip clutches are different devices intended for different purposes. You certainly do not need an ORC and probably do not need a slip clutch.

Similar design MMM decks for your B1750 were available in 54" and 60". The right side belt cover on yours has been (poorly) cut away in order to install a gearbox for a powered grass catcher that has been removed at some time in the past. The 60" deck on my B1750 has the optional grass catcher...

I never mow with FELs attached on any of my tractor/mower combinations.

FWIW, though I once was, I'm no longer a fan of front chains because they allow more debris to be thrown onto the back of the tractor and add weight.

FWIW, front weights were mandatory on my L6060 with Woods BB720X on anything but level ground. Still carried the front end from time to time on steep areas with the maximum 5 weights attached to the FEL grill guard. No, I never mowed with FELs attached.

"New clutch." This is a red flag and an area that I would suspect firstly after verifying proper operation of the engine. Does the engine appear to operate properly, or does it bog down when attempting to move? Any white smoke? If white smoke, suspect fuel delivery, e.g., clogged filters...

For your purposes, spending the extra money for a higher quality and more durable cutter is highly questionable.

I would simply try without weights and add weights only if necessary. They are expensive.

Probably will not need front weights when on level ground. The FEL grill guard will accept 4 or 5 front weights which will be enough if needed in most circumstances. Be advised that front weights, whether mounted on the grill guard or on the optional front weight bracket, must be removed...

Sounds normal to me for reasons already posed. Yes, I would check/adjust tire pressure and verify that neither brake is partially applied.

Having once been a fan of slip clutches, I have learned through extensive experience that they are often/usually more trouble than they are worth. If you decide to go the slip clutch route, you should properly adjust it to the lower of tractor PTO HP or mower gearbox HP rating. Who does this...

Your tractor can operate a three point mounted 42" rough-cut (bush hog type) mower in most conditions and a 48" one in some conditions.

Again, your MMM (belly) mower is designed to mow lawns, not untended area. Though the MMM sold with the B1750 is one of the very best finish mowers, it will not hold up to duty more suited for a rough-cut (bush hog) type mower. I strongly advise you to remove the belt covers so as to grease...
