Yep, these ones weren't respecting robots.txt and there were 100s of them at once. Bad bots!

Ok think the main issue here was a bunch of crawler bots on the site (100s of them) that were slowing things down for everyone else. I booted them off/blocked them and then updated the server hardware a bit to better protect in the future.

Hmmmm - site shouldn't be slow. I'll dig in and report back if I find anything.

Ok a small number of settings have been adjusted/tuned here. Site is responding well to them so far. Think we are probably good here for now. Give me a heads up if you notice anything strange (eg. site not responding to requests, taking a long time to load).
