    B7100 blow-by question

Dang. That sucks. I saw your earlier thread on this (otherwise fantastic) tractor. Seeing the oil on the gravel would convince me this needs to be addressed. With only 900 hours, seems like this thing suffered some trauma - maybe a serious overheat at some point? Ingested some...

Steel building : Magnets for TV antenna on roof...?

I'd think a set of three or four strong magnets would work, as long as they are set up to get a wide stance and the antenna is only a few feet above the roof. Lots of commercial installations on flat roofs use mounts weighted by a bunch of concrete blocks.

    Timberline Chain Sharpener

The timberline is an interesting design - I like that one setup lets you sharpen all the teeth, compared to my needing to flip the bar around to get the 'other' side. I also like that one tool accommodates different size chain teeth with just a different carbide cutter. That said... Me too...

    Adding dynamo and regulator

Diesel fuel shut off solenoids I've seen with a 'run' winding DO draw current in order to keep the engine running - Not as much current as the 'pull' winding, but still enough current to drain a battery after some number of hours...

Good golly miss molly..no up pressure on FEL

Again... If you're not aware - the 3PH control does affect the FEL hydraulics. When you use the FEL, the 3PH control needs to be in the central (neutral) position.

Good golly miss molly..no up pressure on FEL

First thing I'd do is make sure the 3-point hitch control lever is in the center (neutral) position...

Wood siding for new barn or something else?

I'd stop in at a mom and pop sawmill or two and ask. Around here (Indiana), tulip poplar (aka yellow poplar) is the go-to species for barn siding. I used 1x8 rough-sawn as board and batton on an outbuilding 35 years ago. It's holding up very well, despite: Never having been treated or...

    Lets talk DRO's my friends!

I put one of these DRO PROs ones on my lathe. It is a 'cheap' Chinese model, but has been fine for the 5 or 6 years it's been installed. Your installation is what really matters. Properly done, these really aren't just a 'bolt-on' item. I needed to fab brackets and shields. I wanted the...

    B7100 blow-by question

Yep - no easy fix. Just keep an eye on your oil level, as it is possible to blow out crankcase oil with excessive blowby...

    Diesel storage / shelf life.

I've thought about that for years - seems like a good idea. I like that, since the tank is totally airtight, there will be no atmospheric 'breathing' that over time would draw in moisture.

    Diesel storage / shelf life.

That's a nice set-up. Is that basically a LP tank that you can pressurize to push the Diesel out?

    Looking for some "machine advice"

Yes - I've seen them. I have a spare set of thyratrons, and so far, the originals are doing fine.

    Looking for some "machine advice"

Thanks! It came from a Navy 'facility', rather than a 'lab'. When I got it, the paint was hideous - many, many coats of various pastel colors (green and orange!) over the years. It all got striped off and I painted it grey.

    Looking for some "machine advice"

This one sits in my shop. It came from the US navy, who bought it new in 1962. It had some electrical issues when I bought it, but wasn't too hard to get working. The spindle is driven by a 5HP DC motor, controlled by a set of giant thyratron tubes.
