    Questions for a new owner-to-be (L2501)

I bought a trailer last month to haul my tractors (MX4800 and BX266), and have used it about a dozen times so far. Here are a couple of things I have learned that may help you: 1. Double check everything just before you take off. Do a Walk Around the trailer checking everything. 2. Stop after...

Can't Read Hydraulic Fluid Level in Sight Window

This is GOOD stuff, got it on Amazon. Also when you have a hyd leak (had one on my backhoe) You notice it! Even a small one, you notice it because of the pink foam. M

Making a list and checking it twice

Grapple. THE most useful implement on my tractor. I would hate to be without it. M

New property cleared - sticks and debris removal

I had the same problem with my rake, and I tried removing every other tine, which mainly just allowed sticks to get caught in between the tines. I never had any luck gathering sticks with it, just mounds up the dirt. However, when I got my grapple I found that opening it and floating it...

    New Hauler for my toys....

I have actually loaded it without it hooked up, and the tongue jack stays on the ground. (I did have it chocked). The geometry is such that when tilted, cargo weight travels between a point just forward of the rear axel and the tail of the trailer which is on the ground.

    New Hauler for my toys....

I had put this in the Dump Trailer thread, but think it deserves it's own. I went trailer shopping last week. I was looking at dump trailers, but none of them were long enough for my MX4800 and back hoe. I have properties 65 miles apart and want to be able to move either tractor (have a BX2660...

    current dump trailer reviews

I went trailer shopping last week. I was looking at dump trailers, but none of them were long enough for my MX4800 and back hoe. I have properties 65 miles apart and want to be able to move either tractor (have a BX2660 as well that I use for mowing etc.) between the properties easily. I was...

    Dealer completion gotcha's

I would check the lug nut torque at 10 hours (instead of the 50 in the book). I did not notice it until it was too late and ovaled out the two forward wheels. (I do not think this was the dealers fault.) M

    Standard L Series Decision The L2501, 3301, 3901

A I started out looking at the L series, 2501 etc, settled on an L4701 and the dealer said an MX4800 is only $800 bucks more and a whole lot more tractor. Got the MX4800 and could not be happier. I thought it would be a good tractor but I was wrong, it is a GREAT tractor. M

    Looking @1 tractor.. advise.

You know, there are wedges just for this, and they work fine. But if you must use a tractor, a line (a bit longer than the tree is tall) pulling on it is by far the safest when you need to direct the fall. I push small (10" or less) trees over with my dozer, but I have a cage that protects me...

    Enough vs too much tractor

Scott, I am in Western Washington as well. I had 8 acres which was logged and replanted about 30 years ago, so loamy soil over clay, and on the top of a slight rise lots of fist to basketball size rocks down about 1 to 3 feet. I have had a bx2660 for about 6 years and it worked pretty good...

    Regard to filtering diesel fuel

I have spent my life on boats and ships, most small boats (say 200 feet and under) which load fuel in nearly all countries of the world rely on Racor filters. they have a centrifugal flow which tends to separate water better. Easy to put a small one on your tractor, they are made both spin on...

    B2650 Grapple

I have the Land Pride 72" and have praised it many time on this forum. It is the most useful implement on my tractor. I do not think you can go wrong with either. I like the Land Pride because I have it. I also like the full length top part as I use it as a rake for limbs and rocks floating in...

    B2650 arrived this morning

Nice Machine, and gear! How does that chipper work? I have a small one, and I find it easier to just burn limbs. but I would really like to be able to make a chip pile like that and use the chips to compost into some clay. What size limbs will it take? Again, nice rig! M

    Air flow/filter

A piece of porch screen (fiber not metal) is really flexible. I glued 3 small round magnets on each side of the screen and it slap over the front and stays there, just takes a moment to take it off, shake it and put it back on. The holes in the screen do not clog and stay like the holes in the...
