    Trailer for L3800

What are you pulling it with? Get brakes on both axles no matter what. Tractordata says a 4WD L3800 weighs 3340lbs. If it wasn't for the extra length of implements, I'd say a 7K would be more than enough. A longer trailer enables you to balance the load better. A short trailer doesn't...

Post your ROPS light mounting pics

I mounted 2 forward and 2 rear facing lights to a piece of 3" angle. I mounted the angle to the top of my ROPS with two bolts I drilled/tapped into the ROPS top surface.

Personal Redirect to: Water in the hydraulic fluid

How many folks here have destroyed tractor clutches and transmissions because of using Walmart fluid? I've heard of folks with HST claiming better performance with more expensive fluid, but I don't remember hearing of damage with cheaper fluids.

    Chipper Buying Help

I have a Braber/Agri-Ease chipper that is a clone of the Wallenstein, but substantially less expensive. Some smaller tractor dealers sell them in my area. Direct drive, no belts, works great. http://braberequipment.com/Products?ProdCode=13066

L175 AND L185 Owners Need Your HELP!

How seriously have you worked to get it loosened up? Are you sure it's not salvageable? Soaked and heated?

    L245DT Coolant Temp.

IR temp is nice, but what #'s are normal or cause for alarm? My L245DT does not have any gauges either. They come with a whistle on the overflow line, that's it. I've never thought to check mine, the only time it's ever got hot and spewed coolant was when the fan/water pump belt broke, normal...

    L235 Runs away

It's somewhat difficult to get a real solid answer, but a lot of folks online say kerosene and #1 diesel are either very similar or the same. Kero/#1 is often used in colder climates in the winter. I'd definitely add some lube if it was mine, I use 2 stroke oil in my diesel fuel but sometimes...

Using 3-point to Pull Up Boulders?

If you can rock/move the boulders a few inches, you should be able to get them out. The way I've had the best luck is to have some loose material such as crushed rock around the rock I want to extract. As the big rock gets moved back and forth, loose rock falls into the cavity and the boulder...

    tire ballast question

I'm going to call BS on all the acceleration and mass theories. Tractors are meant to work, they lift, push, and pull all kinds of loads. They're designed to do so. Ballast weight is only a couple hundred pounds per tire. I'm going to guess it's a matter of backhoe strength more than...

    Pulling Rebar

Chain hooks welded onto the bucket and a chain with one hook are much more useful than hooks on both ends of a chain. With hooks on the bucket, you can shorten your pull to any length and the hooks can't slide along the bucket edge. I have 3 hooks on my bucket and use them all the time.

BX FEL receiver for ball hitch

I made a little receiver that I bolted onto my bucket. It works great most of the time, but can be downright scary in certain situations. Any time the trailer is pushing hard on the tractor, especially when turning or on slopes, you have a lot of leverage pushing the tractor off line. I...

    mx5200hst quote

I'd look for a smaller used tractor. As previously stated, big tractors can tear up light duty implements. What do you have planned for work that requires such a large machine?

    Bent bucket

I'd pull it with a chain comealong, across the diagonal from lower left to upper right like Hokie suggested first. If that doesn't work, you might need to weld on some long handles, one on each end, to twist the two end plates relative to one another.

    Pulling Rebar

My FIL has a home made post puller very similar to your sketch Lilfoot, but his has a stick of box tubing or channel, can't remember, welded onto the wheel, and used for increased leverage. It stands vertically with the pick chain hooked to it, then the lever is rotated down and the post or...

    Clamp on pallet forks

Yes, they are super handy for a variety of different needs. I do not have a QD bucket, so clamp on forks work for me. Mine are Rankin brand. No bucket damage.

Installed the 3pt and rear blade, Adjustment Suggestions Needed

If you're going to attempt to plow with an angled blade, then you need to set the top link length with the blade angled. I do as slimshadie suggests, angle the blade as much as possible, lower till just off the ground, and adjust the top link to get the cutting edge parallel with the ground...

    Well, it's time

You have options out there. http://www.millertire.com/products/wheels/rear-tractor-wheels/flat-base/24x-9-flat-base-rim-unpainted/ When I bought my tractor the previous owner had just put new rear rims on it and I thought that was a nice selling feature not to have to mess with it.

New member with a 1980(?) L185 to refurb

That tractor is in excellent condition for it's age. I would NOT paint it. Clean it up, repair what's needed, and enjoy. Original paint and decals show it's pampered history, a repaint always leaves me questioning what's been covered up.

    Aluma 6812H Trailer + BX25D

Thanks for sharing and subjecting yourself to the internet trailer police. While I fully agree a tandem would be better, I'm willing to bet you're not overloaded. Tractordata says a BX is only about 1400lbs. Drive safe and make sure you are balanced with enough tongue weight. That makes the...
