    How much smoke is OK?

Unless we have a really cold winter here it's not something we usually have to worry about. If you're running straight #2 diesel then I'd only worry if it were going to get to the low 20's or lower. I consider that a good point of safety. Go to the K-town Co-Op or even Advance Auto and you...

    How much smoke is OK?

Also.. seeing it's that time of year be aware that on a cold start in colder weather the combustion chamber has to get up to temp before it'll quit smoking and be efficient. Old laymans way of having an idea of whether a diesel is getting low on compression - the periods of cold smoking will...

    Cold Weather Hydraulic Operation

Bulldog, Sounds like good advice using Amsoil. I hadn't thought of it till you mentioned it though. I'll have to check and see how far I have to go to get it, rather think there's no dealer out here in Gods' country. Perhaps there's one in Chattanooga or that direction. Thanks again.

    Cold Weather Hydraulic Operation

Bulldog, Sorry to be off-topic a bit but what have you been working in your "M" model? Dealer here told me the SUDT was a waste for me, even with the hydraulic shuttle. No one seems to know what they put in it from the factory for break-in so thought I'd ask.

    Floating a bucket

yep.... sounds like it's the video that's the source of the confusion!

    Floating a bucket

GWD, Just a comment, I may be misunderstanding your message but...... when you push the joystick forward or the single lever forward for "up & down" the bucket should be going down. That's the standard hookup. If yours is not I'd suspect the hoses have been reversed.

    Oil Starvation?

Sounds like a question for the Kubota engineers! The best I can offer otherwise is to state I'm pretty much in the same position as you. I bushhog behind the house (up andback as much as possible) and it averages 25-30 degrees with one small section approching 45. I pull up and back down and...

    OrangeTractorTalks is 2 Years Old!

Mr. K Vic - Still a great and helpful site thanks to your hard efforts! Hope I have the pleasure of saying this again at 5 and 10 years. My Kubota'll be here, it's me that's in question! :D

    Cleaning the tractor

Stay away from the fuse boxes- I always wipe down my dash and seat by hand as well. I use the higher priced multi-purpose grease from WallyLand. The name's excaping me at the moment, Mygic or something like that.

Hi, Near as I see you help out 'round here quite a bit. I've learned several things from your experience. BTW..... real name's Ron if you didn't guess <g>.. and I'm just north of Tellico Plains up here in TN.

    Spam or Legit

I noticed today there is in every thread I looked at a empty message by OTT.COM stating "sponsored link". Just wanted to know is this legit, a true sponsor for the site at some level or are we being spammed?

    loader capacities

I can't imagine a problem either - only thing I would add is that's heavy enough I'd certainly feel better with at min. filled rears or rear weights. Make sure the fronts are pressured up properly.

    Another Crazy Thought?

I decided to order in a toothbar and try that first. Least expensive of the options and all that. It should be in late this week or early next. I'll update after I'm able to give it a try. If that per chance doesn't work as expected I'm thinking I'll try out a "stump bucket" which would...

    Box scraper or Grading scraper

Meant to say to, I'll have to profess ignorance, I didn't know there was a box scraper that you could angle like a 3-way scraper blade. If so I guess it'd probably be a horse apiece. The box blade w/teeth is probably better at digging and stronger.

    Another Crazy Thought?

Pat331 Your idea for attaching a small bucket or ripping device is what I was trying to present or ask if anyone has done successfully already. I would rip with the 3-point scraper blade if I could. I guess I could have explained a little better what the area is like. I'm digging around a 30...

    Another Crazy Thought?

Like a lot of places this summer it's been hot and dry here. I've had some digging, mostly into banks (nothing is flat here) where I'd like a little more "flat space". THing is I really don't have the machinery needed, either a Cat or a back-hoe perhaps. The FEL try as it like can really get...

    Box scraper or Grading scraper

I bought a Land Pride Scraper (35 series) to go along with my FEL. It probably is capable of better finishing than I am but I got it mostly for the versibility in angles, tilt (L-R) and side to side. Makes dressing the sides of the drive for erosion control lots easier, there's nothing level...
