    Car Lift For Tractor Servicing

A pit is a great idea; however, they went out of favor years ago because fumes would settle down into them and cause problems. If you have a pit, or are thinking about adding one, make sure you include ventilation.

Firewood challenge! Loading a 40 yd bin by hand

I cut, split, and stack between eight and ten cords of firewood every year. I enjoy the work. I buy logs from a local logger, use a hydraulic splitter, and my tractor when necessary. At the most I can do a cord in a day, most days half that. Throwing chunks of wood like the man in the video...

We aren't going to make it much longer

I remember summers when I was a youth when the temperatures rose to over 100 F during the hottest days. That was before most people had air conditioning in their homes. I also remember years when there was a lot of snow, and years when there was very little. I don't believe that the weather has...

    " Firestarters" for woodstoves ?

A few sheets of paper, some cardboard, an empty milk carton, or some dry bark all work well for me. During the cold season when I burn wood every day, I usually have enough coals left on the bottom of the fire to start up the next day's wood without kindling. I just shove the coals to one side...

    Anyone build a 'replica' Cobra?

I was thinking about that, but it's too small to fit a reasonable sized battery. The range would be very limited.

    Anyone build a 'replica' Cobra?

For most of my adult life I talked about and dreamed about building a Cobra replica. The closest I ever got is the Miata I bought for myself when I retired. I really enjoy driving the Miata, but it is not really a substitute for a high powered Cobra. My kids, now adults, still tease me about...

Keeping snow and rain off the seat?

During the warmer months I just flip the seat up to keep it dry. When the snow season comes I pull the tractor under a roof that is just big enough to protect the seat and operator area. That roof is in front of a garage where I keep a car that I only use in the good weather so I don't mind...

    Straps or Chains for trailering?

I prefer straps for the same reasons you listed. The only down side is that a strap can wear or cut if you aren't careful about how you put them on. Edit: Wolfman beat me to it.

80 foot trench for propane line

I dug a 650 foot ditch to bury underground cable to my house with a backhoe. The requirements were the same as yours, at least 24 inches deep and at least 6 inches of sand. The soil conditions sound about the same as yours, large rocks mixed with gravel. I am in the Catskills. I doubt that you...

80 foot trench for propane line

So much depends on the soil conditions. Sand is not expensive in bulk, just get a yard delivered. It does not have to be the same quality required for concrete.

2022 LX2610 Spongy Deck Step and fender

I weigh about 250 lbs when fully dressed. I have the LX2610 and the step does flex. I worried about it at first, but it hasn't given me any trouble yet.

    Sabre Samurai Cutter SSQA Mount

I have also been looking at the Samurai Sabre. I have some hedges and other assorted brush that needs to be kept back from my 600 foot driveway and I am tired or doing it with a handheld hedge trimmer and brush cutter. I like your SSQA style mount a lot more than attaching the Sabre to the side...

Stump removers, What have you used

I have been digging stumps out with the BH77 backhoe on my LX2610. It takes some time and effort, and the bigger the stump the bigger the hole has to be to get to all of the roots. Stumps which have been dead for a number of years come out much easier than fresh ones. Fortunately I have a place...

    Is this a water well?

What is the diameter? Any water well I have seen has a six inch casing.

    Lx2610 opinion

I agree with jkrubi12 regarding a separate mower. A nice finish mower will be a lot easier to use than a tractor with a MMM or tow behind mower for the relatively small lawn you are going to mow. I mow about two acres and have been doing it with a Cub Cadet lawn tractor for many years. The only...

What a bummer, or it sucks to get old

I have been riding all my life. I started with a mini-bike at age 12 and graduated to street machines as soon as I was legal. I have not had any physical limitations, but my reactions have slowed and traffic has gotten more dangerous. I sold all but one motorcyle a few years ago and the one i...

    Daily Chuckle

And their preferred food is carpenter ants. Since I live in a log cabin, I am very happy to see the bird plucking carpenter ants out of the dead pines around my place.
