L3901, top and tilt, and QH-15: trying to configure the hoses, still.. argh!

Hey Dan and MVR, I was thinking that the hoses for the top link should be on the long side because they can move over a wide vertical range. But I do agree that the hoses for the tilt could be shorter. MVR said "Put 90s at all four of the coupler ends." Sorry to be slow here, but where...

Here's a picture of my latest attempt (I'm not happy with this one):

L3901, top and tilt, and QH-15: trying to configure the hoses, still.. argh!

I found a video online and took a picture: This solution looks better than the one I have. Does it look good to you guys? One thing I notice is that, on the right side, the hoses for the toplink are tucked between the other hoses. This seems like an important detail. the toplink hoses will...

L3901, top and tilt, and QH-15: trying to configure the hoses, still.. argh!

When I raise the 3-pt to the top, the QH shifts the hoses up quite a bit, and it feels like it's torquing the fittings.

L3901, top and tilt, and QH-15: trying to configure the hoses, still.. argh!

I'm really struggling to configure / align the TnT hoses in such a way that the QH-15 doesn't run into them as I raise and lower the 3-point, and as I use the TnT. (I've tried several different approaches using 90 degree and 135 degree fittings and various length hoses.) A few assumptions I'm...

Configuring hoses for an L3901, two sets of rear hydraulics, and a QH15

Great info Hokie, thanks! The dealer is proposing sending me a new plate that doesn't have a 45 degree bend, and that I would install higher on the ROPS than the one shown in the picture attached. That could buy me at least 6" of height. I like the idea of your setup, I thought about attaching...

Configuring hoses for an L3901, two sets of rear hydraulics, and a QH15

I've attached a rough draft, side-view of how I'm thinking of configuring the hose that's going to be flexed the most, the outer hose on the toplink. The diagram shows the toplink when it's raised and when it's lowered. In the diagram I'm using some straight couplers, some 45 degree couplers and...

Configuring hoses for an L3901, two sets of rear hydraulics, and a QH15

When I bought my new 3901 last summer I asked the dealer to add two sets of rear hydraulics and I also bought a QH-10. Well, the QH-10 wasn't in stock. A few months later they got QH-15's in stock so I got one of those. Now it turns out that the rear hoses and the QH-15 conflict with each other...

Poor man's shallow ditch witch using a 24" shank on a boxblade?

On my Land Pride box blade, the shanks are about 18-20" long, but most of that length is above the grade. They can only go maybe 4 to 6 inches below the level of the back blade. So I might be able to get a deep enough ditch with my existing shanks, but it seems like it's going to be close. So I...

Poor man's shallow ditch witch using a 24" shank on a boxblade?

I think a subsoiler would be great to have, and I like the idea of the shear pin. Which bolt is the shear pin? Sometimes, I'd really like to have the shank mounted just wide of the tires. The thing I'm trying to do now is make shallow ditches between fence posts so that I can bury electric...

    QH15 vs. PTO, argh

That's good to hear. I considered trying to stand on the cutter, but didn't try it. I'll try that next time. When I stood next to the cutter and leaned in to attach the PTO, the upper corner of the QH caught me in the chest. As an aside, I obliterated my first big bramble patch yesterday. It...

    QH15 vs. PTO, argh

A few days back I attached my RCR1860 for the first time. The PTO connection was a beast, mostly because the QH15 was constantly in the way. I'm thinking that a quick hitch with a rounder shape, like the QH05, would be easier to work around. But it seems like the QH05 probably isn't beefy enough...

Poor man's shallow ditch witch using a 24" shank on a boxblade?

I've got quite a few 6" deep or so, 2" wide or so, 10 to 16 feet long ditches to dig. I was thinking of getting one 24" shank and putting it on my box blade. thoughts?

L3901 - PTO disengage, needs adjustment?

Just to clarify, when you say lubricate, I'm assuming you mean lubricating the cable? The cable reminds me of the kinds of nested cables you find on bicycles. So lubricate the ends of this cable, where the inner cable emerges from the outer cable? What kind of lubricant? thanks

L3901 - PTO disengage, needs adjustment?

When I try to disengage the PTO I have to wiggle the little yellow lever this way and that for a while before the PTO disengages. I loosened/ lenghtened the cable a bit (maybe a 1/4"), underneath the tractor, didn't help. any suggestions? thanks

Pushing rear attachments, specifically a landscape rake?

Yeah, I could lift the cutter before backing up. But it's a little bit like using a vacuum cleaner, there is often a natural back and forth pattern when cutting. more pondering...

Pushing rear attachments, specifically a landscape rake?

Thanks for all the replies, I've learned some good stuff. I have to confess I was focused on the implement and not the tractor. I was surprised to see the picture of the bent lift arms! It would seem that if you have a QH in the mix that would help strengthen the whole 3-point system? (As an...

Pushing rear attachments, specifically a landscape rake?

All I have to go on is a crude understanding of materials science and a decent understanding of mechanical physics. But I have no experience, which is why I asked. Your answer kind of surprises me, can you say more about why you think the tines would be more vulnerable being pushed? thanks!

Pushing rear attachments, specifically a landscape rake?

From what I've observed and seen in online videos, it's common practice to push some rear attachments like box blades and brush hogs. So far so good? How about pushing a landscape rake, any concerns? Any general guidelines when pushing rear attachments? Any things to watch out for?
