Some years back in a different place a friend set trap lings for bobcats, mainly. In some particularly nasty weather he ran his trap line and came up empty. On the way home in his pickup he hit one on the county road. :ROFLMAO:

You are correct. They don't want ANYTHING to do with two legged creatures. In all our years in the forest they will be long gone before you ever get in the area. The bears too. But if they hit you it will be from behind and it will be quick. Don't worry, it will be fast. They are here. But...

Some the 'pets' that have adopted us. There are four of 'em below. At least some of them are still around? But not for a family photo like this:

Oh my gosh - what a classic picture. The kitty in wait for a meal. We have cougars. They kill livestock. They jump 6' fences and carry a pig out over the fence. We've had problem bears mashing steel cans and hauling pigs. But seeing that on a camera is amazing. We have working dogs. A kitty...

    Its a wonderful life !!!

Ouch. The DW is a scavenger at the supermarkets. She gets amazing deals even arguing with the butcher. Seriously, she can get a hunk of meat or a family pack marked down making her a point. But travelling is a different issue. Plus ya don't have the cookware and spices. $2k, hmm. Now there is a...

    Its a wonderful life !!!

Our spice rack covers an entire wall in the kitchen. And we have the pantry and crouch space below with bulk. I have my few but the DW has all this stuff including mixtures of stuff I can't pronounce. I'll say again, spices, which are additives, change everything about what you are eating. Ya...

    Its a wonderful life !!!

Spices. A DW who can do a simple thing in a few hours with minimal work and you have five star food on a plastic plate. No meat and taters every day but just good food that is nutritious and you stop because you can't eat anymore. Besides, the leftovers are lucious. Not bragging, necessarily...

Sand. I remember sand. No boulders or rock. Just sand. I understand better now.

    Its a wonderful life !!!

Bread is there to mop up the remaining sauce/oils which are a sin to waste. The plate has to go back clean or you didn't like the meal. It has to be good bread. That's a whole different subject.

Beautiful pictures. On the way home from supper last night the DW had broken tracks earlier in the day on the logging trail - on the way down heading out for her vacation. I followed the tracks which were basically firm slush. On the way home as I gained altitude and the stuff got deeper, of...

    Its a wonderful life !!!

Same here. But different folks have their own thoughts on what is worth eating. Last night a neighbor invited me out for supper. There aren't too many options in our area. Two of them and one was closed. The night's special was brisket. The 'cook' has his own idea of cooking a brisket. Instead...

That was my last attempt. Devcon plastic steel. A big bandaid that was perfect for clean and mix. It popped right off.

Home made vs store bought. The store bought is already at least a week old. I'm having a chocolate moment thanks to you.

    OK smart guys

A few+ years back a non-resident neighbor bragged about his new drone. Then we discovered he was using it during hunting season to see if we were home and if we were out and about. He was 'Mr. Poacher' deluxe, trespassing if he could and he would. We were thoroughly offended at the invasion and...

This thread.... A bad memory. I rebuilt a 230 Chev 6 cyl and adapted it into a '51 Chev sedan (turtleback) and all was good. Excellent if I can say so ;) But that late fall morning when the temperature dove to single digits and I woke up realizing I had straight water in it. Yup, it broke the...

    At What Point.

In the last few months I received the new policy for the home, outbuildings and land. Also are riders for equipment: tractors, ATV/UTVs, the wood mill. We also have two road pickups bundled. The home policy was pretty reasonable. Automotive stuff was as expected. But lately the rate increases...
