Well it wouldnt hurt to double check with a dealer you respect for giving you correct answers. As far as lube I to would suggest a quality lubricant but, I would use the recommend gear oil. It lasted thirty years the first time and the box might not have failed with regular maintenance. even...

I don't know if it helps any but, I have seen and read the same info you quote. Plus when I did rebuild the box on my B7100 they were the same top and bottom. I dont recall such an interference on the upper bearing tho. my biggest probs with the rebuild was removing the rusted in place races...

When I first saw this thread title I thought it was about this tractor. where a late model kubota engine in an early Allis. I kinda like this type of conversion. many of these types tractors have straight frame rails and usually completely enclosed trannys. makes for fairly straight forward...

start at the beginning, then bleed bleed bleed. each joint up to the injectors. that should find the problem.

+1, check the grounds most likely there but, be best time to clean and service both cables and ends. that should take care of it.

I ordered a drive for a B8200. the problem I have had is locating a cable to use. I ordered a cable per SDVic's reccommendation and it is short. it just wont reach. if you find a cable I would sure love to know the number so I can order one. an extra 3-4 inches ( 100mm) would be perfect. So...

Me too, I would love to have the proper one for the B7100. I understand at one point they were just lying around like dirt. suppose they must all have been scraped.

i think, my opinion mind you, you would be much happier pulling a splitter with your tractor that had its own powerplant. (separate engine) all said and done you'd be better off with the oil flow and speed of operation.

if diesel and was run out like the last poster said, beside bleeding change fuel filter. do it even if it was a recent change before the stoppage. then start bleeding, from supply/tank end first, then go step by step down the lines. do anything different the last few days before it stopped...

also try a 50/50 mixture of acetone and ATF. it can't hurt to try another rust solvent for a couple of days.

as I see it, using manufacturers recommended fluids is best as long as they are avail. especially newer models. many additives are already in place and i see no need to play chemist.
