Updates to MX5800 thx to ideas here

Yeah, gotcha. When I went from the B1700 to the L3700SU, I thought that would be the last one I would ever need. Started stump grinding and decided The L was a little light on power. The MX and that grinder(along with a highly modified cutting wheel**) is the real deal. Couldn't be happier...

Thanks Bright Lights is the point:D Tirechains.com Bought originals for a B1700, bought the L3700SU and extended them. Now the MX, had to extend them again. So probably $500 by now. LOL I'll work on those pics:)

Updates to MX5800 thx to ideas here

Was going to weld hooks to bucket but liked the idea of bolt on. I thought the clevis in the bucket would be useful when I saw it on here. Made the roof for my L3700. It was a stretch but she fit the MX. 1/8'' formed steel with 2" angle supports. 25" bar light in front and (2) 4'' in back...

    MX5800 steering wheel alignment

Thanks for the quick response. I thought the hydrostatic steering might be the cause, thanks for confirming. And yes, I have a steering spinner. ;)

    MX5800 steering wheel alignment

Just bought a new MX5800. When I got it home I noticed when driving straight, the steering wheel was 180 off. After it warmed up, it was where it should be. Cold it's off 180 again. Any comments....???

50 Hour Servoce, L3800 HST Quieter??

HST noisy? Haven't noticed.;) My noise cancelling headphones are a must. I really haven't noticed a difference after a fluid change. It's always noisy but it works great and better than shifting all the time. P.S. I Switched to the SUDT2 at 200 hours, can't hurt.

    Tire chains and wheel spacers

It's been two and a half years since I installed the spacers and flipped the front wheels to widen the stance. Very satisfied and have had no troubles. My tractor is now 3-1/2 years old and have just under 250 hours on it. No problems and buying it is a decision I'm not regretting. I could have...

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I look in on OT but don't sign in often. I have the quick release bucket so I only take that off to mow. My rear mower is about 800lbs so the loader helps to co-balance that even with the bucket off. As I've discussed in some threads, I bought 3" rear...

    Reversing Front Wheels

I swapped my fronts and it increased the width 5". That was to closer match the backs that I used spacers to widen 6". Overall I feel a little safer mowing the side of hills and since I don't travel more than a couple MPH, I think any extra load is insignificant. PS. If you're on a slight side...

Be wary of industrial bar tread

For your particular situation (IMHO) I would keep the R4 for their puncture resistance and add an aggressive set of chains like use on log skidders. I see you have a L3800 so you'll also have to get a set of wheel spacers to fit the chains but that will make your horse more stable. win, win!

Chains vs. Loading Rear Tires Question

If you have a mechanic's creeper or similar, it's easy to maneuver the filled tires into place

Chains vs. Loading Rear Tires Question

I second filling the tires. After a mild winter, I'm taking my chains off this weekend. They're a great help for pushing snow in combination with filled tires but they are a little too bumpy for me to be mowing with. Danged winter, only used half my allotted wood and never plowed once.:D

    Tire chains and wheel spacers

Honestly I haven't noticed any difference in roughness in steering or ride. I actually feel the tractor is more stable than original. I know the power steering does filter any bumping/jerking but I could still sense it if it was happening. Sounds like you may have some ball joint or steering...

    L3700SU, your cover is coated....

I've seen the poor quality powder coatings of which you speak. Steel gates, trailer hitches. I can only speculate they where done in high production environments where specific amount of the color granules is allotted to a product whether the item is sufficiently coated or not. It's about...
