I knew you must have had some good reasons, and they are. If you are unable to get another original then would it be possible to replace the pulley to make the alternator spin faster without haveing to firewall the enging?
Do you have a particular reason to return to the orignal?
Not sure what your situation is but a lot of people convert to a larger alternator so they can actually run more than just the stock headlights. With your current configuration you could run a butt load of extra lighting and a winch...

I seriously don't know how you selective hardcore people live in temp's that are deadly. Add even the slightest breeze to those nasty temp's and it's all down hill from there. Very brutal!
Contact the dealer and get it taken care of while the warranty is still up and running. Having that pedal sticking is a very big safety hazard and something bad will happen to people or property.
