What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Last night I used my tractor to delicately remove the shore power outlet from the side of my camper. I had the damn cord in my hand and I told myself, I gotta go get the tractor warming up and I'll come back out and get the trailer ready to move. Well, in the time it took me to start up the...

    Picked up another Kubota

I had to give my tractor a paint job. (it was originally green... 🤮)

OK, so a ship explodes and later sinks in a war zone?

Explanation 3: sorry folks... I know you don't want to go to war with Ukraine, but lighting your own boat on fire is not the way to get out of it.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Feller sounds like a word grandpa would use... "That young feller with his loud music and baggy pants..." Tractor turned 100 over the weekend. Saturday I spent several hours working on the driveway and private road. It's been completely wet up until that point. I was able to make it not the...

    Spring is Here

Well, we ALMOST have a lake full of open water up here. The packed snow in the driveway/road just finally disappeared earlier this week. I'm hoping tomorrow it's dry enough that I can do some work on the driveway. Previously all I would do is just churn it up. It was like pudding. Another...

Run one past the oh great ones

Dave, I had that thought, too, but as somebody mentioned earlier, the volumes at full extension on each side of the piston is not the same. The shaft takes up some of that volume, so going from full extension to full retraction there will be extra fluid (the area of the shaft times the length...

Mount winch on top of bucket?

I don't know if logging winches are different, but the ratings on automotive winches is a little misleading. When you get a 2500lb winch, that means that it will pull a rolling mass of 2500lbs up a 20° incline. That's a far cry from pulling with 2500lbs of force.

    Price of steel=OUCH!

That's assuming you can get it right away. Gotta factor in some generous lead times. I work at a place that does fabrication (mostly aluminum) and welding. It's ridiculous. Priced out a 2' x 2' x 1"thk aluminum plate at mcmaster (needed it asap) and it was almost $600. We decided we didn't...

    Curling

(still at work) This looks like a good one... Ice prep is a lot like field prep in football or baseball. You really could set somebody up with a "home advantage" if you were looking to. It's very temperature and humidity dependent, and changes if you're looking for a 12 second stone or a 13...

    Curling

Basically backpack sprayers. Except, they're not just spraying... A backpack sprayer full of hot water, except a big hose running to a "pebbling head". I'm at work, so I didn't really watch this video, but it shows everything... Backpack of hot water with a hose to a pebbling head. It's all...

    Curling

To be honest, I wish there were a little more time for drinking when curling. I can usually get about 2 beers in in the 2 hours of curling, but I have to remind myself that it's there. If I'm not throwing, I'm following a stone down the ice or walking back to the hack. The times where we are...

Give it a shot and you'll understand. Can tell the Olympics are over. Very noticeable drop in curling conversations (here and everywhere on the internet).

    Curling

It's really amazing how much the sport has changed, even since I started curling 8 years ago. I can only imagine the changes that have happened in the 10-20 years before that. I mean, you can still buy hog-hair brooms. I mean, heaven forbid I have to switch to a synthetic-hair broom.[/s]...

Stop the ROPS bar from loud squeaking when underway.

You need to remember that the ROPS needs to be at a certain level higher than your head. Draw a straight line from the top of the ROPS to the front of your tractor - not a level line at the top of the ROPS. That's where it'll be sitting when it's upside down. Realistically, the ROPS being up...

    Curling

Now, instead of rolling, they need to make one that just kicks out of the hack and still has to account for speed and everything. The biggest part is knowing when to release. Throwing hard, you need to release earlier, while you still have speed from kicking out. So while sliding with the...

    Curling

Yep. These days i think they normally put the harder blue hone on both the top and the bottom, cause then you can get twice the time on it before needing to dress the running band. The handles just twist off and you can flip the stone. But it's pretty neat. A friend (and team-mate) of mine...
