Looks like my block heater crapped the bed…

Ever check for current running through it? There's no way to know unless you test it or touch the block near it. I have an ammeter wired to my block heater now as well as the timer.

Looks like my block heater crapped the bed…

I went through two and then added a timer for the third block heater . It will heat up for twenty minutes then turn off for five and then cycle again. The small space in the block doesn't contain enough water to prevent the heater from burning out.

    Increasing hydraulic pressure using shims

I would run it at 2300 and re-test it in a month. It will decrease over time on its own as the spring weakens.

    BX 2200 Alternator upgrade

I would go with a hot water heater , in order to get a decent 12 volt heater you'll need more amps than your alternator can put out and you'll kill your battery and probably the alternator over time. Been there, done that.

    BX heater install

Any reason this wouldn't work? Redirect hose from thermostat to the heater and run the return back to the water pump. I 'll add shut offs to bypass the heater in the summer and run the coolant from the thermostat directly back to the water pump.

What was the purpose for installing valves if the system had to have flow at all times?

barbed fitting for cab heater BX2370

The only issue is, I wouldn't be able to shut the heat off to the cab so the hoses would have to be disconnected in the Spring as you pointed out. I could install shut off valves in order to retain the fluid to the heater. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.
