    Sooo

Here in the US, the white speed limit signs are law, but like all other laws there is some discretion in how they’re enforced. Not sure how to give other examples of laws with well known “discretionary enforcement” limits that don’t quite align with the strict letter of the law without derailing...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Did some more chipping today at the other brush pile across from the shed after finishing the bigger brush pile I started on yesterday. When I finished the shed pile, I remembered I needed to give the shed a thorough look to see if the Alaskan Saw Mill setup was still in there. Hadn’t seen it in...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Too wet to do much outside but can run the chipper even if it’s a bit muddy out. Turned a bunch of useless and not very compact brush into much more compact and useful chips. Put a good dent in it today, hope to finish tomorrow.

    Brake pedals connected...

Long boring story as to why, but I had to do a lot of brake steering on the tractor I first learned to operate. Could steer it with the brakes about as well as I could with the steering wheel (going forward). Wouldn’t have a tractor I couldn’t brake steer. If you have good traction on the front...

    Seat Hot In Summer

Park in the shade, flip seat up, towel or cloth seat cover. If you wear shorts some sort of cover is almost required.

    Sad News

You could make it yourself. Used to do that every weekend in the summer when I was a kid and again when our kid was in the house. Haven’t done it in a while. It’s so simple even a kitchen klutz such as myself can pull it off. Using a base recipe you can add variety by adding fruit or other...

    B2601 and Pat's Quick Hitch

The above is from the Operator Manual for my L4701. Lift capacity is rated at 2870lb at the ball on the lift arms that attaches to the implement (W 0 in the diagram). This is from the Kubota website. It lists the 3 point lift capacity of the L4701 at 2870lb “at lift points” and 2320lb 24”...

Loaned my tiller to my BIL

At 72 I would wonder a bit if he ran off the drop off and died or if he had some medical incident that caused him to run off the drop off. Tragic either way.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Our road runs the spine of the ridge the three houses and shed are on. It has two turnoffs for each house and one for the shed. All downhill way past the horizon in the below pic so it gets to being a lot of water moving pretty fast by the time it gets near the end of the ridge. When the my...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

T I’ll scour the shed for it but that will take a bit of time being I haven’t seen it recently. May be this weekend before I can positively determine whether it’s here or not. If you don’t have a PM from me by Monday, I don’t have it.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Many years ago had one of those Alaskan Saw Mill saw guide things and yeah, it was a lot of work. Also made a fair amount of lumber from the white oaks that had to go to make room for our house. Much better with a ripping chain in place of the normal chain. Can’t recall if that thing is still...

Any additional nput on 3pt chippers?

I have a Woodland Mills WC-68 which I share with my brother. Between the two of us, probably around 100 hours on it. It’s about to the point of needing the blades turned around and after that, I suppose they’ll need sharpening. I like the adjustable feed speed. Slowing down the feed greatly...

Anybody dealt with House of Contractors out of Canada?

Sorry I can’t directly answer your question as I have no experience with them. One thing you might consider with the one you posted a link to: the infeed rollers are driven by some sort of belt and gear box system with a short driveshaft that appears to have quite a lot of offset. I’m assuming...

1,000 hour review of an L4701 from squatch253

I don’t have the backhoe. Use the loader quite a lot with grapple, bucket, and forks. Use the PTO and three point quite a bit with bush hog, chipper, stump grinder, boxblade, backblade, pine straw rake, and skidding winch. The three rear remotes and hydraulic top link and side link are pretty...

    Daily Chuckle

Looks like someone saved time and money by skipping those pesky little brick ties. Can’t see them once the brick is up so who would ever know?

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

For now, I do. Almost 3 years in, it seems to be handling it well. It would be a bit of a stretch for tree debris to hit it while in its parking spot, but I’d much rather park it inside. Looked into building a shed, or having one built, and would have pulled the trigger on a metal 3 bay 5 years...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

We were on vacation last week. Got back Saturday. Since then we’ve had rain at least part of the day every day. 5” total this week. So only thing I’ve done with the L in the past couple of weeks is put up the camper. In between rains, the T mowed all three yards, top of the dam, and grassed...

    Extra Security Protection

My father used to say, “A lock only stops an honest man.” I tend to agree, and the advent of affordable battery powered angle grinders hasn’t helped much with the efficacy of locks, chains, and cable for security. Obviously the fewer people that know it’s there the better. Certainly shouldn’t...

    Everything Attachments - Bankrupt?

Agree Ted has done much damage to the Corriher name and that likely isn’t restricted to him only, which is quite unfortunate for other Corrihers if undeserved. I would certainly consider buying from CTL if they had something I was looking for, but only if they were loading it on my flatbed while...

RESOLVED - Need help with grapple problem

There are numerous folks here who know WAY more than I do about hydraulic systems. But, I have had a similar issue with my grapple. I spent a good bit of time totally focused on the grapple end of the connections. It would close but not open. Hoses appeared to be flexing. I had never removed the...
